The Skokie Home Scoop - March 9, 2018 |
Dear Skokie Families,
The promise of spring is in the air, and with that comes the start of Daylight Savings Time. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead on Sunday morning! As you think ahead to your family's spring calendar, please do note this coming Monday evening as one of significance. A special board meeting has been scheduled for Monday, March 12 at 7:00pm in the Little Theater at Carleton Washburne School. This will be the first opportunity for our Future Ready D36 Core Team to unveil the concepts that developed out of our district-wide Educational Master Facility Planning process. These concepts were developed in response to three key areas: enrollment, aging facilities and the district's vision for teaching and learning. It is anticipated that the School Board will approve an Educational Master Facility Plan by June 2018. I would strongly encourage you to make time to attend this meeting, and be a part of this exciting opportunity to plan for the future of our schools.
Due to the Future Ready D36 Community presentations coming in the next couple of weeks, we will need to (once again) reschedule the Coffee and Conversation scheduled for Friday, March 16. Administrators' spring schedules tend to get as busy as we know your family's can be, but we intend to find a new date. Stay tuned!
Finally, we look forward to welcoming Pete, of "Pete's Diary," for an all-school assembly centered on our continued theme of "Choose Kind." Pete will share his personal story with all of us, comparing it to the story captured in the book
Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. If you are interested in joining us, the assembly will start at 2:30 in the auditorium! For more information about Pete, visit

Enjoy the sunshine and time together with your family this weekend.
