Freeholders Approve Official Display
Of KIA Flag That Honors All Service Members Killed In Action

The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board, at its March 6
th
meeting, approved the display of the official Killed in Action Flag (KIA) at the County Justice Complex and in front of the Historic Courthouse in Flemington, in compliance with state law.
Freeholder John W. King, long active with veteran and military service issues as a Freeholder, said at the meeting, “The KIA flag is specifically designed to remember and honor those that have been killed in action in the defense of our nation’s freedom. And it is required by state law to be flown at state, county, and municipal buildings offices during normal business hours.”

NJBPU Hearing On
Utility Storm Response Coming To
Hunterdon County

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU), the agency that regulates power companies, including JCP&L, has announced that several hearings will be held around the state regarding the company’s response to winter storms Quinn and Riley. One of those hearings is to be scheduled in Hunterdon County.
Freeholder Board Director Matt Holt stated at Tuesday’s Freeholder meeting, “We welcome that news. And have to think that the public attention that was drawn to the response issues in our County had something to do with the BPU’s decision to come here. As soon as we are aware of the date of the hearing, we will advise the public.”

New Library Director
Brings Successful Record To The
Hunterdon County Library System

After an extensive search, James Keehbler, formerly the President of the New Jersey Library Association and a New Jersey Librarian of the Year, has been named Director of the Hunterdon County Library system, replacing Mark Titus, who retired last year.
Freeholder Deputy Director Suzanne Lagay, liaison to the Library Commission, stated, “The effort put forth in the search for a new Library Director paid off. We feel confident that Mr. Keehbler is the right fit for Hunterdon County and our libraries.

‘Mac’, Hunterdon Prosecutor Office’s K9,
Honors Late Detective Matthew McGinley

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, held a ceremony Wednesday to introduce the newest K9 officer of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office K9 Unit.
The 20-month-old German Shepard from Czechoslovakia was generously donated by Dr. Caesar DePaco and his wife, Deanna Padovani-DePaco, of Summit Nutritionals International, Inc.
The DePaco's have traveled across the United States donating dogs to police K9 units.
"It is a rich tradition in law enforcement to name new K9 officers after deceased police officers," Kearns said. "I am proud to announce the name of our newest K9 Officer will be McGinley, 'Mac' for short.
