Do you know a local small business deserving of recognition? Consider nominating them for the Greater Kansas City Chamber's Small Business Celebration. Each year the KC Chamber recognizes small businesses throughout the metro for their business growth, investment in employees and commitment to the community. SBA National Small Business Week Award Nominations Open
 Nominations for the U.S. Small Business Administration's 2015 National Small Business Week Awards, including Small Business Person of the Year, are now being accepted at awards.sba.gov. There are more than 10 awards categories (including Women's Business Center of Excellence Awards - wink,wink) to choose from. Award guidelines and nomination forms are all available on the SBA website. All nominations must be submitted by 2:00pm on January 5 either online or through the Kansas City district office at 1000 Walnut, Suite 500, Kansas City, MO 64105.

FastTrac New Venture for Women - New Start Date - January 13
Do you have a business concept (or two) and need help evaluating the feasibility of your ideas? Have you already started a business but never really developed a business plan? FastTrac New Venture can help you build a plan that will help you to launch and grow a successful business. During this 10 week program, participants will develop a start-up plan that will help them to not only start but succeed in business. This curriculum is offered to women-only over the course of 10 weeks. Each week will cover a new content area of your business plan through facilitated discussion, guest presentations and group discussion. Classes start on January 13 and will be hosted every Tuesday evening from 6:00-9:00pm through March 17. Cost is $550 and includes your curriculum book, access to online templates and light meals.
