Transformation Through Loaded Words
"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: ..." Hosea 6:3a. "That I may know Him ..." Philippians 3:10a
Just knowing about someone is very different from knowing someone experientially. As we set our hearts to know Christ, we find ourselves in pursuit of Him. A deep desire to personally experience the Lord takes hold of our hearts. The tip of the iceberg is, and never will be, sufficient in this pursuit. This becomes an effortless journey, since it's the Lord who has a way of drawing us deeper and deeper into our relationship with Him. In the process of pursuing the Lord, we give Him access to transform our lives.
In our chasing after God, there's one area we find the Holy Spirit targeting; it is in the area of our words. The Lord's intention is to see and hear our words reflect our new created life. Our words are loaded with positivity, or convey negativity. "Life and death is in the power of the tongue." Proverbs 18:21.
The Lord gave us the gift of verbal communication when He created us in His image and likeness. Basically, we live in a negative world, with its forces coming at us from every angle of life. But the Lord showed us by His example, how to respond. His purpose is to raise up positive women to affect this negative world, changing it through the words we speak.
At the beginning of time, there was no light. Darkness and chaos (no form and order) swirled the earth. God didn't pay the darkness or chaos attention. Instead, He spoke that which was not present. He said, "And God said, let there be light, and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good." Genesis 1:3-4. Where there was disorder, He called forth order. Genesis 1:3-10. This is true of the new created woman, made in God's image and having His life and power flowing in and through her. We have the choice to speak life (God's truth... His word), and change the atmosphere, or settle for the status quo.
"Let your words be 'seasoned with salt.''' Colossians 4:6. The idiom, "seasoned with salt" means friendly, clear and making people thirsty for truth. As women, we have the choice, ability and power to speak words of life. These words of life will develop friendships that allow you to encourage and edify other women. The power of truth spoken, will bring transforming power, setting them apart to freely fulfill God's purpose.
The Lord Jesus exhorts His followers, "Have salt in yourselves." Mark 9:50. What the Lord Jesus is saying is that He is a type of salt indwelling us. When we are salted through and through with the blessed Holy Spirit, our words will be seasoned with Christ's life. Words cannot be seasoned with the Holy Spirit after they leave our lips.
Jesus said, "Either make the tree good, or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit. Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the day of judgement (decision). For by your words you will be justified, and by them you will be condemned." Matthew 12:33, 37.
The Lord is teaching us how our words produce fruit, good or bad. He warned that speaking idly is not wise. Instead, our words are to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, and thoughtfully executed, in order for them to impart life. We will give account of the words spoken wisely or foolishly in the day of reckoning.
When we speak Holy Spirit inspired words, "they are like balls of clear glass in which the very core of the thought can be seen and comprehended" (G.W. Watson). It is then that our words are loaded with light to transform lives. As God's women, we are carriers of loaded words.
