Now open to the public, Im so excited to announce the completion of
Philadelphia magazine Design Home 2013. I encourage you
to come see it for yourself. Tour dates are now through November
17. Hours are from 11a.m. to 4p.m. on Thursday, Saturday, Sunda,y and
Monday. You can find special events listings at phillymag.com/
DesignHome. After the tours have ended, please visit this website
once again for a virtual tour.
If you have been following the progress with the Design Home Series in this newsletter, you will know there was little more than a shell during
our first trip to the Design Home. Thanks to the help all of the
sponsors, this home has come together beautifully in a very short
amount of time. The foyer chandelier is a replica of the elegant
crystal chandelier seen in the 2002 James Bond movie, Die
Another Day. The dining room also has a spectacular chandelier
crafted by the same maker. Dark blue walls accentuate the lighting
and artwork, while a contemporary table combine the old
and new with antique end chairs and sideboard.
The kitchen is always the heart of the home: Here, we added a
unique glass table with high back wicker chairs and avant-garde
roman shades. The leathered granite just begs to be touched.
The cabinets are probably my favorite yet.
To provide an imaginative wall for the family room, we designed shelving for displaying artwork. We topped it all off with a
smartly framed TV, courtesy of Paul Kraynak at North Penn Art.
Remote-controlled window treatments offer relief from the sun, and privacy when needed. Contemporary furniture invites
everyone to get cozy and stay a while.
The master bedroom is a retreat that you will never want to leave. Soothing blue walls complement white, built-in bookshelves. The luxury extends to two custom designed closets with a sitting area plus two master baths.
I would like to thank all of the sponsors provided by Philly mag:
Lighting by Main Line Lighting, furniture (in these pictures) by
Dwelling, granite by Colonial Marble, artwork by Merritt Galleries,
Tile by Bob Wagners, hardwood floors, carpet and area rugs
by Floors USA, window treatments by Coco Curtains, cabinets by
