Kitchen remodeling with a casual yet sophisticated touch.

The kitchen is the hub of your home. No matter how big or how small, it seems to be the room where everyone congregates and families spend most of their time. Functional space is key, its not just the place to prepare and cook foodits also used for entertaining guests.

Kim and Doug have four kids and dreamed of a modern white kitchen that would work for entertaining, as well as a ground zero for their kids. With their busy schedules, the kitchen needed to be very efficient and comfortable. This is a large kitchen yet it just wasnt working for Kim. She really didnt like the countertops, never used the double oven and could only seat 3 at the island. The desk was used as I see it oftenas a catch all. Even with the large chandelier, the room seemed dark.

We started by redesigning the back wall. The desk and the double ovens had to go. The stainless steel refrigerator was a place to collect fingerprints so we covered the new refrigerator with panels to match the cabinets. It was moved in to the middle of the wall to integrate it more with the rest of the kitchen. A larger microwave was built in and a coffee station was added. The TV was conveniently placed.

Lanterns provided more light below and on the side. The bright quartzite counter top along with the marble basket weave backsplash just added so much to the feeling of this room.

Kim and Doug are thrilled with the remodeling, the light wood and wall color makes their kitchen feel much more spacious. If youre ready to design a kitchen but dont know where to start, I have plenty of ideas that will help inspire you.
