Government will Re-Open, Funded through February 8
|
As of Friday night at midnight, the federal government shut down as Congress could not agree on full-year funding or a short-term continuing resolution. However, earlier today, Monday the 22nd, an agreement was reached to fund the government through February 8th through another continuing resolution.
NAIHC will provide updates on full-year funding as they become available.

Spring 2018 Intern: Erla Sagg
|
Erla Sagg is an intern with the National American Indian Housing Coucil. Erla is a member of the Native American Political Leadership Program, and a student at The University of New Mexico. She represents the Ta'neeszahnii (Tangle clan) from the Big Mountain and Hard Rock area of the Navajo Nation. She is born for the Bitahnii (Folded arms clan). Her maternal grandfathers are of the Naakai Dine'e (wandering people) and her paternal grandfather's are the Ashihii (Salt clan). Erla is a descendant of great grandparents: Con Shepard and Asdzaa Tulli (Light complexion Woman). She was raised by her grandparents, who relocated from their original homelands due to the Navajo and Hopi Relocation Act in 1974. Erla is the 4th generation of her family to attend college/university. She has completed an AS, and LPN at Utah State University. In another year, She will have completed a BA in Native American Studies with a Leadership and Building Native Nations concentration from The University of New Mexico. She plans on pursuing a career in Law, and focusing on tribal governance.

SAMHSA to Hold Tribal Consultation

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will hold a virtual Tribal Consultation session regarding the implementation of the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records regulations (42 CFR Part 2 or Part 2).
The session will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EDT).
In addition to the Tribal Consultation session, SAMHSA will accept written comments on the implementation of Part 2
