Milford Robotics Teams Dominate Competition

Milford had 10 teams participate in the VEX Robotics Competition on January 27, and all 10 qualified for the final elimination bracket. In the elimination rounds, the top 8 teams select two other teams from the field to form a three-team alliance. Of the 24 final teams, Milford had 10! One of the Milford Alliances advanced to the finals and lost in a close match. The tournament finalists and other aw ard winners have all qualified for the Ohio State Championships.

Milford will be hosting its first VEX Robotics Competition on Saturday, February 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Milford Junior High School.

"All are welcome to stop by to watch 60 teams from 18 schools and 8 different cities in Ohio compete head-to-head. More than 700 people will be in attendance in the MJHS gym," said Matt Arnett, Milford Engineering and Robotics Boosters President.
Milford 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
Four Milford graduates have been chosen for induction in the 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame.  They were honored prior to the Milford boy's varsity basketball game versus Winton Woods High School on Saturday, February 3.

Milford Students Can Begin UC IT Program in High School
Milford School District recently entered into an agreement with the University of Cincinnati School of Information Technology which gives Milford High School students the opportunity to complete the first year of the UC Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree while still in high school.

If students complete the Information Technology high school program and required college-level academic courses with a "C" or above, they will automatically be accepted as a sophomore into the UC School of Information Technology. Students will also be eligible to participate in the UC co-op program, which is a paid work experience. Through this program, students will then have the opportunity to graduate with a Masters Degree in just four years after high school.
Open Enrollment to be held in April
Milford Exempted Village School district accepts students from other school districts based on capacity guidelines for each grade level. Applications for open enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year must be submitted in person to the Milford School District's Central Office, 777 Garfield Avenue, during the following timeframe:  April 9 - 27, 2018  between  8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The  application deadline: April 27, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

Milford High School's Drama Production Opens February 8
Mark your calendar for Milford High School's production of "Curtains: The Musical." The show runs February 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and February 11, at 2:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.  Curtains, a musical comedy, is a parody of the 1950's "whodunnit" theater mysteries.  The show will feature the biggest cast ever - 44 students!

Milford Students Named Scholastic Arts Winners












Milford High School has 10 students and 19 pieces of artwork being recognized in the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition.

The 19 Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention winners from Milford High School will be on display at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from January 29 - February 9, 2018. These student artists will be honored at an awards ceremony at the School for Creative and Performing A rts from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018.

The Gold Key award winners, Hannah Barton, Jenna Bellonby (two entries), Bre Severns, and Ashley Burgess have advanced to the National Scholastic Competition. They will compete against other regional winners from across the United States. There were nearly 5,000 pieces submitted this year in the region.

Preschool Registration Open for 2018-2019 School Year
Milford's Preschool registration for the 2018-2019 school year will take place Tuesday, February 6 and Thursday, February 15 from 4-7 p.m. Milford Preschool is located at 1039 State Route 28.

Milford's Preschool offers an integrated preschool program for students aged three to five. The program is a mix of eight students with special needs and eight typically developing students. The State of Ohio has awarded the Milford Preschool program with its top five-star rating.

Kindergarten Registration Open for 2018-2019 School Year
Registration for Milford Exempted Village School District's half-day and full-day kindergarten classes for the 2018-2019 is underway.  To be eligible for kindergarten, a student must be five by September 30, 2018.

The district plans to hold at least one full-day, tuition-based kindergarten class in each of the elementary buildings. Based on the number of applications received per building, a lottery will be held if needed. Additional sections of full-day classes will be added based upon the number of applicants.  Parents, who are residents of Milford, can register for full-day kindergarten through  Friday, February 9, 2018.

MJHS Scheduling for Incoming 7th Graders
Registration meetings for incoming 7th graders to Milford Junior High School will take place from  January 29  through  February 7 .  MJHS counselor, Julie Beelman, visits each elementary school to meet with students during the school day and will follow up with parent meetings in the evenings at each elementary building. See the remaining parent meeting schedule listed below.

Milford Athletic All Stars...
On January 18,  the Cincinnati Enquirer announced the 2017 All-Stars for Ohio Football. Milford High School varsity football coach Tom Grippa was named the D-1 Football Coach of the Year by the Cincinnati Enquirer!

A total of 10 Milford High School student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding performance during the fall sports season with inclusion on the 2017  Cincinnati Enquirer  Fall All-Star teams.

At the Southwest Ohio High School Swimming and Diving Classic in January, Milford High School junior Tyler Babinec set two new school records in the 200 Individual Medley as well as the 100 breaststroke where he finished in first place.  


Winter Guard Tops Competition
Both Milford High School JV and Varsity Winter Guards came in first place in their classes at the TriState Marching Art's competition at Waynesville High School on January 27. It was the first competition of the season for the Eagles.

The Winter Guard varsity squad competes in two weeks at Zionvsille, IN and again in three weeks at Winter Guard International Indianapolis Regional.

8th Annual Milford Flight Night Set for March 8
The Milford Athletic Boosters support our student athletes and the district through significant donations of their time, talents, and financial resources. One of their biggest fundraisers is the Flight Night, a great event that sells out year after year.

This year, two legends from The Ohio State University are the featured speakers: Jim Tressel and Troy Smith. Local columnist Paul Daugherty is returning as host for his third Flight Night event.

February Community Swim Sessions 
The Milford High School pool will be open for community swim on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in February from 7:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. You must be a resident of Milford School District to swim. When arriving at Milford High School you will need to show a valid government-issued ID.

A waiver of liability must be signed by all swimmers prior to swimming and by a parent or legal guardian for participants under the age of 18. Any participant under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian present to swim. 

If school is closed due to inclement weather, community swim will not be held. Click here for the February schedule.
