Funding for National Housing Strategy

Federal, provincial and territorial Ministers responsible for housing have agreed to match approximately $7.7 Billion in planned federal spending for implementation of the National Housing Strategy (NHS) through to 2028. Read more

2018 Community Excellence Awards

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Community Excellence Awards. The Awards have been revised to recognize UBCM members that have undertaken projects that demonstrate excellence in meeting the purposes of local government in BC. The awards are designed to profile promising practices and to create successful pathways and incentives for others to follow. The application deadline is May 25, 2018. Read more

Rental Housing Task Force Announced

The Premier has appointed a three-person Rental Housing Task Force to review B.C's Tenancy laws. The Task Force will consult with the public, landlords, tenants and other stakeholders and make recommendations to Premier Horgan and Minister Robinson in the fall. Read more

Consultation on Recognition of Indigenous Rights

A national engagement has been launched to seek input on the development of a Recognition and Implementation of Rights Framework for Indigenous Peoples. This initiative forms an integral part of the Federal Government's broader commitment to renewing the relationship with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. Read more

Provincial Spill Response Webinar

The B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy will present a one hour online meeting on May 4th, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 am outlining proposed regulations to enhance spill preparedness and response with respect to land transportation of hazardous materials. Read more
