Adaptogens!

As the world discovers the phenomenal benefits of adaptogens, it's also getting conflicting information on them. Our founder David Winston RH(AHG), author of the book Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina & Stress Relief, is an authority on adaptogens. It's no wonder herbal industry trade magazines are relying on him to set the record straight. NutraIngredients-USA recently did a fantastic job:

Daily Adapt Named Best Stress Relief Product!

"We really appreciate receiving recognition for the Best Stress Relief product for the second year in a row. This is one of my personal favorites. As always, David Winston's formulas reflect his extensive knowledge of how herbs work synergistically in a well-crafted formula," said Beth Lambert, CEO, Herbalist & Alchemist.

Herbalist & Alchemist's David Winston's Daily Adapt™
formula
was chosen as the Best Stress Relief product of 2018 in Delicious Living magazine's seventh annual Supplement Awards. The award's purpose is to educate consumers on making trusted and safe supplement purchases

Product News

David Winston, RH (AHG), is constantly adding to his vast knowledge of herbs as additional science emerges.  When appropriate, he amends some of his proprietary compound formulas to improve them.  Such is the case with David Winston's Insight Compound™.  Just like the previous lots you have enjoyed, the improved formula still contains Blueberry fruit, Ginkgo leaf, Lycium fruit and Chrysanthemum flower.  The difference is that there is now more Blueberry in the formula, which well documented in its ability to support healthy vision*.  As a result of the reformulation, you may notice that there is a little less sediment in the product and the level of sweetness is reduced.  The instructions for use remain the same.  We hope that you enjoy our newly improved Insight Compound™ as you continue to support your healthy vision*.

We're excited to introduce reformulated Dragon's Dream Oil™ in the roller ball glass bottle! And there is a wonderful story behind it. The Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) offered a new course in solving typical problems businesses in our industry confront. Part of the curriculum involved working with existing businesses. We presented the class with the challenge of finding the best packaging as we converted Dragon's Dream from an ointment to an oil. Our ointment worked beautifully but customers found it a bit messy and had requested an "easier to use" oil. After much research the students proposed a roller ball-topped glass bottle that met our criteria of being user friendly, QC approved, affordable, and attractive.

"We worked with a group of students and faculty who were located all over the world, from California, Maryland, Brooklyn, Massachusetts and Catalonia," said H&A CEO Beth Lambert. "Collaborating with them was a wonderful experience, and our customers will love the result. Many thanks to MUIH for the opportunity!"

The large plastic overseal has been replaced on this package with new tamper-proof seal featuring the H&A logo. The new format and packaging will begin shipping in March.

Herbalists Treat Refugees in Napal

In 2014, H&A customer Dr. Janet Galipo first traveled to a remote location in Nepal to bring healthcare to impoverished villages. She joined other medical practitioners on behalf of Be Healthy Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing healthcare for people of low income. They spent three weeks working with the people in the Humla village, which has a staggering 65% malnutrition rate and an annual income of $175 U.S dollars a year.

We contributed herbal tinctures for their use then, and again in 2017 when the group returned to help Nepali, Bhutanese and Tibetan refugees. They treated over 1,500 people with no access to any other form of healthcare. Thank you, Janet for your wonderful work and for giving us the opportunity to help.

The word "Adaptogen" is not an ancient term from traditional herbalism, the concept was first described by Dr. I.I. Brekhman in 1961. Brekhman and his colleague, I. V. Dardymov, identified Adaptogens as non-toxic in normal therapeutic doses, producing a non-specific state of resistance in the body to physical, emotional or environmental stress, and as having a normalizing effect on the body, helping to restore normal physiologic function that has been altered by chronic stress. Come talk to us about how adaptogens can help you.

Adaptogens can help us to feel better, restore our energy and help us to be more resilient to life's challenges. They prime the body to respond more effectively and appropriately to acute or chronic stress, but they can't replace adequate quality sleep, a healthy diet, exercise, and good lifestyle choices. Adaptogens can be extremely useful during exams or a big work project, for jet lag recovery, to enhance performance and recovery when training for a marathon or when visiting a high altitude location. We're happy to help you find the adaptogen formula that's right for you.

Like most herbal products, adaptogens work better in formulas rather than as single herbs. Sometimes adaptogens are blended with tonic herbs to utilize their synergy in the most beneficial way. To get the most out of these formulas that balance the body's systems, chose a brand formulated by an experienced herbalist. We're happy to help you find the right formula for you.
