Information on Last Week's Walkout
On Wednesday, March 14th, 2018,over a hundred CCA students joined millions of their peers across the United States by participating in a walkout to honor the victims of the Parkland, FL shooting. The walkout took place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:17 a.m. (one minute for each victim). Students remained on campus and were safe and respectful. All participating students returned to their classes promptly after the demonstration.

This was a student-organized action that was supervised by CCA staff. We respect our students' first amendment rights and ensured their safety. We want you to know that CCA and the CCSD do not endorse or host walkouts, nor does the district or CCA endorse any particular viewpoint or advocacy group.

Mrs. Tench graduated from the University of Central Florida with her degree in Elementary Education with certifications in ESOL and Reading Interventions. She considers herself extremely lucky to be at such a wonderful school as CCA, and that she has the ability to genuinely say that she is excited each day to go school and work with her kids. She absolutely LOVES what she does, and sometimes can’t believe that she gets to do what she loves and call it “work."

She and her husband, Bryan were both born and raised in St. Pete Beach, Florida. They were married in May of 2013, and have been together for a little over 12 years now. After graduating, they briefly moved from St. Pete Beach to Titusville for Bryan's work with the shuttle program.

After 3 years, as the shuttle program was decommissioned, they relocated to Denver for his work again with United Launch Alliance. They are both loving every minute in Colorado and have taken advantage of just about every activity it as to offer. In the summer, they enjoy backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and hiking with their cattle-collie pup Lola. In the winter, they enjoy snowshoeing, ice skating, and snowboarding. Last September, they bought their first home on South Broadway and have been enjoying renovating it themselves.

TRAFFIC/SAFETY:

JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.

JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.

JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.

TOURS:

We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. The next tour date will be 04/20 immediately following the PTO meeting.  Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!
