In Loving Memory of Stella Cromer
The District of Columbia Department of Corrections mourns the loss of Stella Cromer. Mrs. Cromer served at DOC for more than 20 years, most recently as a Correctional Program Specialist on the Federal Billing team at Headquarters. An exemplar of strength, humility, optimism, and tenacity, Mrs. Cromer had a smile that would encourage those she crossed paths with.

Mrs. Cromer will be dearly missed and her family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

All Cheers To The Volunteers
DOC hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony at the Correctional Treatment Facility Gymnasium on Thursday, April 24th.

The ceremony featured a presentation by DOC's Honor Guard Unit, a musical selection by Jordana Cunningham, Program Coordinator with the U.S. Parole Commission, spoken word pieces by DOC residents, and a keynote address by Jasper Ormond, Senior Advisor (CSOSA).

This year, Reverend Linda E. Greene, Volunteer Services Coordinator, organized the DOC Residents Ensemble. Together they sang original pieces that she wrote, drawing a thunderous round of applause and a standing ovation from guests.

Congratulations to this year’s George Strawn Award Recipients, Pastor Patricia Saunders, CEO/President of D.C. Alliance and April Shephard, Lead Re-Entry, Victim Services Case Manager for Community Life Services (CFLS)!

Special thanks to all DOC staff who were involved in planning this memorable program.
