Dear Jones Families,

We stand at the halfway point of our annual journey.  Our freshmen and transfer students have now been part of our community of learners for some time and have settled in remarkably well. I hope they feel that Jones is their home. Our seniors, on the other hand, are preparing to move away from this home and establish themselves in new communities all over the country. There are few things more daunting than uprooting and moving on, never to return.  There is excitement but trepidation as well. That is all part of life.

Our mission at Jones has been and always will be to prepare our young people with the skills, knowledge and attributes that allow them to become productive members of our society, just as they have been here in our school community. The journey toward becoming the "Ideal Jones Graduate at Graduation" is not limited to the walls of our school or even the four years of enrollment here. All journeys have milestones, and those milestones allow us to take stock of where we are and where we are going. A student who has struggled academically or in some other manner has a daily opportunity to rewrite the script of his or her life. That is why we are here: to welcome, to guide, to support, and ultimately to say goodbye, in a never ending cycle.

Please accept my personal thanks for walking with us on this journey. For me, there is nothing more rewarding, as an educator and parent, than to see our young people move forward and become the adults we hope they will be.

Sincerely,

P. Joseph Powers, Ph.D.

Seeking Online Auction Donations

Help us celebrate 80 years of excellence
at Jones College Prep
with the Friends of Jones Spring Gala,
our biggest fundraising event of the year.
Tickets for the Gala go on sale March 1st.
But now,
WE NEED YOU!

Donate an item to our online auction! Here's how...
We're looking for big-ticket items such as sports and Lollapalooza tickets, or stays at vacation homes, as well as smaller, practical things people need and use. Also popular are unique experiences that cannot be found at a store.

*Do you have a talent, skill, or service you could provide? (Cooking, sewing, baking, home or garage organization, etc.)
*Do you, or someone you know, work for a business that might have something to donate? Items such as bicycles, luggage, vacuums and beauty products are always popular!
*Do you have access to a unique opportunity you could share? (Behind-the-scenes tours, access to TV-show tapings, or special events not open to the public.)
*Do you have any favorite stores or restaurants? Gift cards, either purchased by you or donated by the business, are always best sellers! And they often provide 100% of their value to the school!

OR
use the attached
letter and  form to enter a donation.
Items and forms can be dropped off in the main office at school, attention of   Friends of Jones Online Auction
Donations are due by Friday, March 30th.

Thank you!

Help Us Build Our Jones Alumni Association

As part of our 80th anniversary year, Friends of Jones is committed to helping launch efforts to reconnect with and engage our Jones alumni and alumni families. Because Chicago Public Schools does not maintain an active database on CPS alumni nor alumni families, we are bringing our Jones alumni efforts into the digital age - but we could use your help.

If you know Jones alumni or former Jones parents, please inform them of our efforts and encourage them to connect with us as we build out our alumni database through our alumni portal in FOJ Access.
We intend to publish quarterly alumni newsletters, post updates on social media and invite alumni and alumni families to upcoming special events.

You can help our efforts by:
