Happy Valentine's Day!

"While it is February one can taste the full joys of anticipation.
Spring stands at the gate with her finger on the latch."
- Patience Strong

February is one of our favorite months here in Primrose.  The days are starting to get longer, little signs of spring are popping up everywhere, and just about every day we receive another package filled with wonderful new items for spring. It's the month of Valentine's Day, flower buds and UPS deliveries.  There's just so much to love!

We are delighted to offer this new line of safe, natural cleaning products, mixed and crafted by hand and all made in the U.S.A.  We're carrying the All-Purpose Spray, Glass, Granite & Stainless Steel Spray, Wood & Leather Cleaner, and Soft Cleaning Scrub. A Fascination for Hellebores
Christianson's 12th Annual Winter Festival
Saturday & Sunday
February 24, 25

Here in the Pacific Northwest the blooming of hellebores are a favorite late winter reminder that spring is right around the corner. Hellebores are perennial and largely evergreen. Their flowers provide color and interest in the shade garden when other plants are dormant.

Hellebore's most impressive feature is their five-petal bowl-shaped flowers which appear from late winter into spring in colors as diverse as apricot, yellow, green, silver-blue, slate, dusky pink, maroon and white. Some varieties feature double-petaled flowers, giving them a nostalgic rose-like quality.

The Nursery's backstory in preparing for the second largest flower and garden event!

Visit our booth #2126

Dormancy in some plants may suggest February is a slow time of the year at the Nursery.  However, a behind the scenes look shows our staff is busy, busy, busy getting our booth designed and plants prepared for one of the biggest shows of the year: Seattle's Northwest Flower and Garden Show.

Customers delight in our lush-green garden display mixed with unusual plant selections and age-old garden antiques.  It is an experience of contrasting forms and products (silver creamers and ironstone dinnerware atop moss place mats), along with varying height racks of healthy, beautiful, flowering plants and evergreen conifers; some not to be seen at any other booth.

This year, we wanted to show you the behind the scenes look of how we reach that point of historical charm and describe some of the considerations it takes to present an award-winning booth.

Spotlighting Our Staff at the Nursery!

"Ask John!"

John loves hearing from his customers and do they love to ask him questions! Each conversation features an actual question submitted by someone like you.

Q: Hi John,
Will you be having a display garden at this year's Northwest Flower and Garden Show?  We will stop by your booth anyway, because we love the experience of having a Christianson's in Seattle!!

- Beverly M., Camano Island, WA

A:  Hi Beverly,

Unfortunately, this year we are not building a garden display at the show.  There is a lot of work and planning that goes into creating our vision for that project and we already have a few other major building projects started at the Nursery this year.

We will be at our annual location, north of the Skybridge (North Hall), booth #2126.  Please stop by-we'd love to see you!!

- John Christianson

Roses Are The Star of Any Garden

"Remember, the garden grows best when the shadow of the gardener is frequently there.  I can't imagine anything more pleasant than walking through the garden at least every few days to closely look at each individual part of its beauty."

-Author, Nita-Jo Rountree

Over 450 varieties of roses have arrived at the Nursery.   Now is an excellent time to purchase hard-to-find varieties by growers you trust: David Austin Roses, Weeks, Palatine and more!

Rose Lists are now available at the Garden Store and Primrose Antiques & Gifts.
