We're All Stars is Celebrating 25 Years - February 12th!

We're All Stars is an event for Children/youth 10 yrs and older to enjoy a special day of games, face painting, tattoos, pizza, cookies and so much more! Lots of fun activities! Watch peers share their stories about goals they have achieved, challenges they have faced, and their dreams for the future. The highlight of the event for many kids is meeting the sports celebrities, who will be attending the evening Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction!

Choosing a Summer Camp - Thursday February 15

Summer is on its way! NOW is the time to start thinking about choosing a summer camp. Parents and caregivers of children with special needs, therapists and service providers are invited to drop-in to learn about the many camp programs that are available in our community. Camp staff from day camps and overnight camps will be available to answer your questions, explore specific possibilities and begin the registration process.
How to use Symbols so Your Child Will Too - March 7th!


This workshop is for parents/caregivers and anyone supporting a child who is non-verbal or difficult to understand and uses symbols/strategies for communication.
Children learn how to talk by listening to and copying others. Learn how to facilitate communication by using symbols/strategies for children that are non-verbal or difficult to understand. During every-day fun activities, you will learn some key strategies and techniques. Materials will be provided for you to take home so that you can start immediately.

Learn to Volunteer - March Break (12-16)


Have you been thinking about how to prepare for the future?  Wondering how to learn skills you need to volunteer in the community?  Would you like to learn more with other youth? Come out to our Learn to Volunteer series and get the inside scoop! A series of workshops and tips for youth who have little to no volunteer experience to learn about themselves, volunteering, skills for success, and opportunities to gain hands on experience. You will have an opportunity to connect with others to ask questions and to experience volunteering.
Bike Clinics will begin on Mondays in April
Adapted Bike


Our Bike Team will work together with the child/youth and family to determine what type of bike, adaptations, and tips and tricks would make riding a bike successful.
Bike Clinics will be held on Mondays, April 9, 16, & 23,  May 7, 14 & 28, and June 4, 11 & 18, 2018. Appointments will be made between 3:15 and 6:15 p.m.

Changes to the Way Therapy Contract Services are Managed in Publicly Funded Schools

In Ontario schools Occupational Therapy (OT), Physiotherapy (PT) and some Speech - Language Therapy (SLP) services are provided by contracted service agencies. Beginning April 1, 2018, the way these contracts are managed will be changing. Rest assured there will be no changes to the eligibility for service or the amount of service available to school age children.

iCan Bike Program coming to London this July!  

The iCan Bike program is an intensive skill-development week that focuses on learning to balance on a bike with the goal of riding a two-wheeler independently. The program uses unique adapted bicycles to help participants gain the skills and confidence they need to gradually transition to a regular two wheeled bicycle. Participants will transition to their own bike during the week. Participants and caregivers attend the same session for 75 minutes each day for five days.

Life is all about participation! For more than 20 years, Thames Valley Children's Centre has been offering participation programs  as valuable components of helping clients and families to be their best. Ultimately, Opportunities to Participate programs help children and youth with special needs discover new interests and abilities and become valued members of the community; to participate fully in their own lives.

Educational Programs and Workshops

There are many educational workshops available
 through TVCC.We provide a combination of information sessions  and hands on learning opportunities for clients/families, community members, professionals and staff. A  wide range of topics are offered, including Behaviour Intervention, Sleep, Toilet Teaching and the Special Needs Child, etc. We also provide sessions to prepare parents to support their child's participation in life like "Getting Ready for School", "Building Social Skills for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders", or "Getting Ready for Summer Camp".
