CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
 
This week we celebrated National Catholic Schools Week 2018, an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States.  Each day this week we prayed for the blessing and uniqueness of our Catholic education and for the many gifts that our teachers, staff, students, parents and alumnae bring to the SBA community.
SNOWBALL DANCE

On January 19, SBA students gathered in the gym to dance the night away, beat the winter blues and raise money for a great cause!  Approximately $4,000 was raised  for Four Diamonds Foundation.  Our thanks to all who attended and supported the dance.

 

BASKETBALL GRADE SCHOOL NIGHT
 
Thank you to the over 50 grade school girls who joined us on Thursday, January 25.   Prior to the game, the team was introduced along with our honorary captain Christopher who was representing Athletes Helping Athletes,  At halftime there was a drawing for each registered guest for Saint Basil Academy gear and a certificate for a free SBA Summer Basketball Camp. Players, coaches, and SBA Administration met the grade school fans for pizza and drinks after the game. 
        
CAREER DAY

Parents, be sure to ask your daughters about their experiences at SBA Care er Day  on  Febru a ry 1.  All students  had the opportun ity  to meet wit h four SBA Alumna e and hear  about their careers.  Some questions you  might want to ask:  What careers interest you?  What information did you learn?  Do you know what education is needed for specific careers?  It's never too early to start the dialogue and exploration!





SBA FRESHMAN MAKES A DIFFERENCE
 
SBA Freshman, Maggie Junkin, an accomplished equestrian, is also a strong advocate for animal rescue.  Read more about how Maggie gives back to her community. 


 

SBA PARTICIPATES IN THE DAVINCI FORUM

Congratulations to Maggie McLaughlin,  Bridget McShane, and  Siena Wanders!  These Juniors were invited to attend 2018 WISE Forum at the Da Vinci Center.  The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Forum brings together female high school students, faculty and students from area universities and colleges, and accomplished women from the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
INDOOR TRACK RESULTS

Congratulations to the Indoor Track team for another successful competition at the Ocean Breeze facility. The SBA lady panthers swept  the field in the varsity 55M hurdles led by Tia Taylor, Sasha Lee, & Jayla Bernard. The trio went on to dominate the jumping events as well. The long jump was won by Tia Taylor with another impressive jump of 18 feet. The triple jump was won by Jayla Bernard winning with a 37 foot jump, followed by Sasha Lee's jump of 33 feet to secure second place

In a subsequent meet, freshman Tia Taylor also set a new school record in the long jump.  Tia's jump of 18 feet 10 inches ranks her number 2 in the State.  Congratulations to Tia!

SBA MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Singers and instrumentalists of SBA's Music Department  performed at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral as part of the Festival of Ukrainian Christmas Carols.  Below is a video clip from the concert held in January. 


7th GRADE PRACTICE EXAM
