On Thursday, February 1, Mayor Rick Kriseman raised the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Flag at City Hall in celebration of Black History Month and the contributions of the museum.

St. Petersburg Mayor   Rick Kriseman  says the state of his city's economy is "kicking," as he delivered his first State of the Economy address since being re-elected to a second term.

He touted record unemployment numbers that topple state lows and record job growth that saw a boom in the city's data analytics offerings.

Tampa Bay Reporter: Kriseman Raises Flag in Honor of Woodson, Black History Month  
   
Mayor Rick Kriseman raised the Woodson flag over City Hall this morning (Feb. 1) as a kick off to Black History Month.
 
The Woodson flag commemorates Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who was known as the "Father of Black History." St. Pete is the only city in the U.S. to raise the Woodson flag over a government entity.
 
Kriseman was joined by city council members and members of the board of directors of the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum. The Woodson Museum is at 2240 Ninth Ave. S.

Healthy St. Pete has been chosen to receive an additional $10,000 as part of the Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge Spotlight Award.
 
Ten winners and five honorable mentions were chosen for the Spotlight for their ability to address the need to improve opportunities for all Americans - regardless of income, education or ethnic background - to take an active role in healthy living.

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman - whose re-election campaign Foster supported last year - was at her 90th birthday celebration.
 
"Winnie doesn't let anything stop her from making the world a better place," Kriseman said in an email. "She has been a tireless advocate for social justice, voting rights, our environment, common sense gun laws, and so many other important causes. Every time I think she may be slowing down, she shows up again ready to help. I am honored to have Winnie as a friend and supporter."

Tampa Bay Business Journal: Kriseman gears up for a Cross Bay Ferry comeback 
   
St. Petersburg Mayor   Rick Kriseman  is confident the Cross Bay Ferry will return for round two later this year.
 
Kriseman wasn't able to arrange a return this season due to lack of financial support, but expects to be able to raise the money necessary ahead of the cold season later this year, when a ferry is available to use from northern states.
