ACA Reporting Reminders for ALEs (50+ employee companies) for 2018

Under the Affordable Care Act, applicable large employers (ALEs)-generally those with at least 50 full-time employees, including full-time equivalent employees, in the preceding calendar year-must report certain information to their full-time employees and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) about the health care coverage they have offered (if any).  The deadline for submitting form 1095-C to all full time employees was extended to March 2, 2018.  ALEs must file  Forms 1095-C , accompanied by the transmittal  Form 1094-C with the IRS  no later than  February 28, 2018  (or April 2, 2018, if filing electronically).  Read more here, or call our office for assistance.

Florida Patients are Flocking to Pot

Medical marijuana business in Florida may reach $1B in annual sales.  The number of patients in Florida's medical marijuana registry shot past 70,000 last week, reaching 71,720 as of Friday, according to  the Florida Department of Health .   There are just 27 dispensaries for now, but the 13 licensed pot purveyors ultimately could open 325 retail locations from Pensacola to Key West .

EEO-1 Survey for 2017 Now Open

Washington DC - The Employer Information Report EEO-1, otherwise known as the EEO-1 Report, is required to be filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's EEO-1 Joint Reporting Committee. Reports from covered entities must be submitted and certified by  MARCH 31, 2018.   Private employers  with 100 or more employees and  federal gov't contractors or first-tier subcontractors  with 50 or more employees and  a contract/subcontract of $50,000 or more are required to file the EEO-1 report by federal law.  Read more on the EEO-1 Survey website. The Communications Workers of America (CWA) and several individuals think not and filed suit against T-Mobile, Amazon, Cox Communications, and Cox Media Group. The complaint alleges that these companies ran afoul of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) by sending ads targeting Facebook users in specified age bands (based on their Facebook profiles). Read more.
