AROUND SHABAZZ
Students Tour MG&E Generating Plant
Students in the Winds of the Future: Sustainable Energy course were invited to tour Madison Gas & Electric's historic Blount Generating Plant. Built is 1902, updated, revised, and renovated over the years, the plant currently generates 100 megawatts of power. Not often do we think about the hidden bowels operating to make your electricity. Students learned about the ghosts of electricity past, present and future. Next time you turn on your light switch, think about the electrons that were convinced to jiggle around by the folks at MGE.
Help Us Expand Our Rain Garden
Shabazz is looking to expand its rain garden on the north side of the building. The garden is connected to our Project Green Team classes and provides a hands on learning experience as students learn about urban water issues and solutions.

We’d like to invite you to donate plants to the project through the  Plant Dane Native Plant Program . It’s easy, just visit the Ripple Effects website , find Shabazz's project, and select the number of plants you’d like to donate. Plants cost $2.25/each and must be ordered in multiples of four.

Thanks for helping to make our garden a reality!
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Summer Employment
Thinking about summer employment? Looking for educational opportunities? Training, employment and volunteer opportunities for students are available at this website . See Sarah Drake if you have any questions!
Seniors - Do You Want to Participate in Your Home School Graduation?
Although we have our own unique graduation ceremony, all Shabazz graduates have the option to participate in the ceremony of their home school. Visit " Do You Want to Graduate with your Home School? " for information about graduation at East, La Follette, Memorial, and West. The information may change, so students should connect with their home school for specific information closer to the date.
Yearbooks For Sale: Submit $$ to Office
Students who started at Shabazz first quarter this school year (2017-2018) had an opportunity to purchase a yearbook with other fees. Students who started at Shabazz  after  first quarter did not have an opportunity to purchase a yearbook with other school fees. However, any student can purchase a yearbook from now until May 1 simply by submitting $20.00 to Hannah in the Shabazz office. Students must submit payment to receive a yearbook. Yearbooks will be distributed in the last days of the final quarter.
