Opening Performances
Middle and High School Show Choirs

The Middle School and High School Show Choirs have kicked off their season with several dynamic public performances and competitions. Good luck to these talented students as they proceed through the competition season, and thank you to everyone who provides support 'behind the scenes'. Congratulations and best wishes to these exceptional groups!

Four and Five-Year-Old Kindergarten Registration
2018-19 Registration

Registration recently opened for four and five-year-old kindergarten students for the 2018-19 school year.  Students who will turn 4 on or before September 1 may enroll in the district's four-year-old kindergarten program. Children who are 5 on or before September 1 will be registered for the five-year-old kindergarten program.

If your child is currently attending four-year-old kindergarten in the School District of New London, you do not need to register him/her for five-year-old kindergarten.

For additional information, please contact Julie Haase at (920) 982-2011.
Thank You, Mr. Gorges
Congratulations on Your Retirement!
Chuck Gorges is retiring after 23 years of service as the district's Maintenance Technician. Mr. Gorges has helped us through a number of projects through the decades ranging from restructuring to roofing, and he played a big part in keeping our buildings looking great and running efficiently. His dedication to do whatever needed to be done to advance the mission of the district has always been appreciated, and his presence will be missed.

We are grateful for your dedication to the district. Enjoy!
Congratulations, DECA Students
Accolades and Accomplishments

Forty-two students recently competed in the first round of DECA at Bay Port High School. Twenty-one participants were recognized with a medal. These accomplishments speak volumes about the dedication of this group and their coaches who work tirelessly to support student successes.

Juntos Español
Spanish Speaking at the Elementary Schools

High School Spanish Honor Society students have been visiting the elementary schools to facilitate Juntos Español (Spanish Together). This program allows high school students to work with elementary children who are eager to learn basic second-language skills that include greetings, conversation questions, songs, dance, and games. Both groups report this as an exceptional learning experience.

Higher Education Day
Staff Support Student Scholarships
Many New London staff members recently participated in Higher Education Dress-Up Day. Participants dressed in university attire and donated over $700 that will be applied to scholarships to assist 2018 graduates entering the education field. Thank you to all who participated and to the New London Education Association for organizing this awesome opportunity.

Fuel Up Team Sponsors Taste Testing
Healthy Eating Options
The NLMS Fuel Up Team hosted a taste testing where students were invited to sample fruits and vegetables to include brussel sprouts, jicama, radishes, red pepper, kiwi, pears, and cherries.
Many students were introduced to some of these healthy options for the first time. Some reported not knowing what a radish was while others shared they had never eaten a pear with the skin still on it. This was a fun and memorable way to introduce healthy options.

Child Development Days
Community Connections
The School District of New London welcomed over 30 families to Child Development Days on January 26. Children participated in a play-based screening focusing on communication, cognition, fine/gross motor, and self help skills.

The New London Lions provided free vision screenings and a variety of additional community organizations were also on hand to share opportunities and resources with families. Thank you to all who made this valuable service available.

Parkview Receives Prestigious Nomination
Blue Ribbon School
Congratulations to Parkview Elementary School for their nomination as a Blue Ribbon School. They join only seven other Wisconsin schools who were also nominated by the Department of Public Instruction.

This recognition highlights strong programming at all elementary schools and celebrates the accomplishments of Parkview students, families, and staff who have worked collectively to close achievement gaps.

Check out the Press Star article highlighted in this week's paper to learn more about this prestigious nomination.
