Dear Jones Families,

Our school is so fortunate to have a Local School Council (LSC) that always keeps the best interests of the students in mind. In my ten years as principal, I have been consistently impressed with the the dedication and commitment of these unpaid volunteers.

On Monday, March 19, we will hold our LSC Candidate Forum (5:30-6:30 pm in the Library Media Center) to provide an opportunity for everyone to meet and hear from candidates for the six parent and two community seats on the LSC.

We have twelve parent representative candidates and two community representative candidates. You can read the LSC candidates' statements on our website under the Parents tab. The LSC election will take place on Thursday, April 19, during Parent-Teacher Conferences . I hope you'll join us for the March 19 candidate forum and, please, remember to vote on April 19.

2018 Friends of Jones Spring Gala

Tickets are available for purchase on-line now through Friday, April 27, 2018.
Tickets will not be sold at the door. Act fast. We expect to sell out our capacity of 500 guests.

Discount parking will be available at the Drake Hotel for $26. The Drake will also provide discounted room rates

for the night of the event. Reserve your room by April 4th by calling 1-800-55DRAKE

and mention code FOJ to receive the discount.

The Spring Gala is Friends of Jones biggest fundraising event. Proceeds directly support the programs that set our school apart.

Spring Gala Donations

We are seeking donations for the annual FOJ Spring Gala Online Auction.

It's easier than ever to donate - just send your donation to school with your student and they can drop it, along with the completed donation form, right into the Friends of Jones donation box located at the entrance of the south building

(at the security desk).

Online Auction donations are a terrific way for all of us to help raise money for the school. Need ideas for donations?

Do you have a talent or service you could provide?

Do you work for a business

that might have something to donate?

Do you have access to a unique opportunity you could share?

Do you have or can you purchase restaurant or store gift cards (Target, Jewel, Mariano's, Amazon, Starbucks, etc.) to donate for the benefit of Jones College Prep? (Gift cards almost always provide 100% of value to the school.)

LSC Candidate Forum

LSC Candidate Forum - Monday March 19
Jones will host its Local School Council Candidate Forum on Monday, March 19, 5:30 pm, in the JCP Library Media Center. Everyone is invited to meet and hear from the candidates.

This is a great chance to get to know your LSC candidates, ask questions and become better informed about the important work done by the LSC to support our school.

College Mock Application Night

Mock Application Workshop for Parents

Monday March 19 6 - 8 pm

In the Robin Bennett Theater

Join us for Mock College Application Night at Jones College Prep! It will be held on March 19th from 6-8:30 pm in the South Auditorium. We will have admission representatives from Kenyon College and Cornell University. Both reps have worked at other institutions nationwide and will speak on college admissions from a general perspective.

For the last 30 minutes of the event, the counselors will share updates on course requests for the upcoming school year

and any new classes being offered at Jones!

Sophomores can attend this presentation during ac lab on March 19th. We ask that sophomore students not attend the parent event.

Visual Art Exhibition:

This is a unique opportunity to showcase achievements in the Visual Arts, and exhibit student work to the public in a highly visible Loop gallery space.

This public exhibit runs March 21 - April 11.

JCP Science Olympiads

JCP Science Olympiad Wins 1st Place
Congratulations to our very own JCP Science Olympiad team who won 1st place in their CPS Regional competition at IIT Saturday March 10th.
The JCP team is heading to the State competition for the fifth time in a row at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The team thanks their amazing coaches Mr. Podlipni and Ms. Cathcara for their support and coaching.

Eagles 5K Run

Heathers: The Musical

Spring College Fair
Annual Spring College Fair - April 24th 5:30 pm Jones will host over 100 schools. This is our largest fair to date. This is a great chance to talk to colleges and begin your search! Visit more information on planning for college go to Counselors Corner on the JCP Webpage.

Thank you Bald Eagles!! 2018 Jones students and staff pitched in to help battle pediatric cancer. We reached a $5,000 goal to fight childhood cancer! Thank you to all the participants and donors!

March 14th Student Walkout

Jones Students participated in the nationwide walkout on March 14th.

Thank you to the staff and administration for helping this event go smoothly and supporting students expressing their views on school safety.

As a follow up, the Social Justice Club held a town hall meeting during AcLab on March 15th to continue the conversation on this subject.

We are grateful to an administration that supports our students and provides safe space for all.
