Principal's Message

Plans are already underway for the 2018-2019 school year. Next year, social studies will be included as a part of the on-campus schedule instead of weekly virtual sessions. Grades 4-8 students will have language arts, math, science, and social studies scheduled in the interactive classrooms each week. Students will still have the option to join these sessions virtually from home. The schedule next fall will run from   9 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday for grades 4-6 and 9 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. on Thursday for grades 7-8. There will be no change to the high school schedule on Tuesday's. Grades 9 and 10 Learning Labs will be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. This Learning Lab schedule for next year will be shared with prospective families during the information sessions this month.

Please remember that Friday, February 9 is a Student/Teacher Holiday. Teachers will not be available to students on this day. This is a great opportunity to catch up on schoolwork and enjoy some time outdoors.

Grades 4-12: GCPS Inclement Weather Make-up Days

GOC & GCPS Logo
Due to GOC's unique learning environment, our school continued to operate on the inclement weather days earlier this year when GCPS cancelled school. As a result, GOC students and staff members will not have school on the following scheduled GCPS inclement weather make-up days:
Friday, February 23
Friday, March 9
Friday, March 23

Please contact the front office if you have any questions.
Attention Current GOC Families!!

Registration for new families will be open from February 1-28 on a first come, first served basis. For planning purposes, all existing full-time GOC students will be automatically re-enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year.

Current families with students who will be new to GOC will need to register their child during the open enrollment period beginning February 1. Current families are encouraged to register new students early in February to ensure space.

If you know your student will not return to GOC next year, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can open the spot to a new family during full-time registration. Those students who will not return next year will need to come on campus to withdraw after final exams in May 2018.

Please contact the front office if you have any questions or concerns.

    Grades 4-12: Student Health Survey

Each year all students in Georgia are asked to participate in a Heath Survey issued by the Georgia Department of Education. GOC will administer these surveys during regular Learning Labs the week of February 6-8. Detailed information about the surveys and copies of the survey questions for each grade level is available on the Georgia Department of Education website.

All student responses are anonymous. Participation in the Health Surveys is an important part of a school's Climate Rating issued by the state. We encourage all students to take part in the survey. Parents have the option of opting out of the survey. Parents who do not want their student to participate in the Health Survey should sign a Passive Permissive Letter (available at the above link) and submit it to Ms.Petra Ordini in the main office prior to February 6.

Grades 4-12: Parent Satisfaction Survey for Students with Disabilities
