Under Construction

Highway 2 Update

Travelers along Highway 2 will see substantial completion of the highway widening project throughout the next month with some finishing touches like landscaping being completed in May and June. Substantial completion will allow the city to open the roadway to four lanes of traffic. The construction team is currently working on finishing up lighting, a small section of bike path, guardrail installation, and water quality features. The widening will provide better traffic flow for residents, businesses owners, and visitors of Commerce City. As a result, drivers will be able to travel more efficiently on this major highway.

Peña-Tower Ramp Update

Starting in February, both lanes of westbound Peña Boulevard were shifted slightly to the left and the right shoulder was closed to allow space for bridge widening work for the new on-ramp. The speed limit decreased from the normal 65 mph down to 55 mph. The lane shift will remain into the summer months. This project will result in higher traffic numbers along Tower Road where there are ample development opportunities in Commerce City with direct access to Denver International Airport.
