CONCRETE REPAIRS

Each year, we receive grant funding from TxDOT Aviation for miscellaneous maintenance and improvement projects. The grant - called the Routine Airport Maintenance Program, or RAMP - allows the airport to utilize matching funds for projects as approved by the State.

To combat the deterioration of concrete that comes with age, we've been using RAMP funds to make repairs along taxiways and the apron.

Our focus is currently on taxiways Alpha and Charlie. Additionally, all taxiways and ramp lead-in lines are swept on a routine basis.  These repairs will continue as we work to secure funding for a more permanent solution.
13/31 FRICTION TESTING UPDATE

On November 17, 2016 a friction test was performed on Runway 13/31 after reports of diminished breaking action at landing when wet (pictured above).  The City of San Marcos is working closely with TxDOT Aviation and the engineering firm to get a resolution.

Until a resolution is determined, the runway will continue to be closed when wet. We understand this is an inconvenience but safety is the highest priority.

We're working diligently to expedite a solution and will keep you updated.

CITY WATERLINE INSTALLATION UPDATE

The City is still projecting completion date for the waterline for mid March, with a substantial amount of the work to be done by the end February.

As outlined in previous newsletters, we're waiting for the waterline project to wrap up before turning on the new security gates. Additional information regarding gate codes and procedures will be provided in short order.
