Have you heard? The Northeast Telehealth Resource Center is hosting our fourth annual  Northeast Regional Telehealth Conference  on June 5-6 in Portland, ME! We are organizing an exciting agenda with nationally-recognized plenary speakers, a variety of breakout sessions highlighting regional programs, a networking reception, an exhibit hall, and more. If you have not submitted already, TODAY is the deadline for our Call for Presentations!

You have also likely heard that several exciting Medicare telehealth reimbursement changes were included in last month's "Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018". These include expanding patient location eligibility for telestroke services and allowing monthly end stage renal disease home visits via telehealth beginning in 2019, as well as removing the geographic and facility requirements for certain ACOs beginning in 2020. The bill also allows Medicare Advantage plans to provide additional telehealth benefits beginning in 2020. Check out these articles for more details:
There are a number of proposed state legislative and regulatory changes across the region. This includes legislation in New York for the Governor's FY2019 Proposed Budget to expand NYS Medicaid's originating sites to "the patient's place of residence located within the state of New York or other temporary location located within or outside the state of New York," subject to regulation. New York is poised to become the second state in the region after Vermont to pass a law specific to live interactive audio/video telehealth coverage outside of a health care facility. Other legislative activity in the region includes two bills in Connecticut that would allow prescribing of controlled substances via telehealth "for the treatment of psychiatric disorders" or for "use in medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorder." For more information on telehealth policy, the Center for Connected Health Policy recently released an updated Telehealth Policy Barriers Fact Sheet and a Telehealth Reimbursement Fact Sheet.
