Champions of Faith Children:

We want you! Yes, you can be a Champion of Faith Children. It is easy, and there are so many ways you can get involved. Your first step is to stop by our table just outside the sanctuary after Sunday Worship to see all the wonderful opportunities we are offering for you to get involved with our children.

Our immediate need is assistant teachers in the classroom. Faith is using the Shine curriculum, a very user-friendly program, which follows the lectionary. The responsibilities of an assistant teacher are minimal and no prep work is required. An Assistant teacher will be asked to welcome the children into the classroom and be present with the children while the lead teacher presents the topic for the class hour. Assistant teachers may also be asked to work one-on-one with a child, layout the lesson's activity or serve a small snack.

I look forward to sharing all the wonderful opportunities we have for you to be a Champion of Faith Children. Questions? Contact Anne Wingler at sixwinglers@gmail.com

Adult Education:

We kick off the new year with two programs, both starting every Sunday after Worship, at 11:15 am:

In the Parlor, we will continue our study from last Spring of Martin Luther King's "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." We will also spend a little time talking about what you want to study in future sessions.

In the Fellowship Hall, our new intern, Ben Masters, will begin a Bible Study on the book of Exodus. Yes, we are going Old (Testament) School with this one! Hope to see you all there.

Sunday, October 1, will be the last chance you will have to pick up your old hymnals. If you miss the deadline, you can still call the office and ask Melissa to put one aside for you. Any of the unclaimed old hymnals will go to the First Presbyterian Church of Dickinson, Texas. That church lost all their hymnals in the flooding of Hurricane Harvey. Our old hymnals will definitely be appreciated.

Many thanks to our two Marilyns for September's meeting. Marilyn White led the lesson in the new Bible study book, and Marilyn Rutherford provided refreshments. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 10 at 9:30 am in the Parlor. Please make plans to be there. All women are welcome!

Fourth Tuesday

Our 4th Tuesday luncheon is on October 24th, and everyone is invited to the potluck lunch at about noon in the parlor/library. Come early and stay late not just for good food, but friendship with other Faith folks. Feel free to bring your non-Faith friends, too, if you'd like. The more, the merrier! If you can bring a dish to share, that'll help us have a wonderful meal. We'll see you there!

Free Yoga Class:

Faith Food Pantry

Food Pantry is in Need:

The food pantry is in need of 18 oz jars of peanut butter. The Central Texas Area Food Bank has been out for several weeks now, due to Hurricane Harvey, so we are asking our members to please help out by donating jars of peanut butter. Thanks!

Church Workday:

Please join us on Saturday, October 21 from 8:30 am until about noon, for our fall church workday. We will be cleaning up the church grounds and taking care of some small projects like organizing closets and dusting the sanctuary.

Save The Dates:

November 5 we will screen the Out of Order documentary at Alamo Drafthouse for the community and November 12 we will celebrate the church's 60th anniversary with Rev. Sallie Watson, General Presbyter of Mission Presbytery, preaching that day.

Faith Presbyterian will be 60 years old! November 12 we will celebrate the church's 60th anniversary with Rev. Sallie Watson, General Presbyter of Mission Presbytery, preaching that day.  Others from the community will be present to help us celebrate our big day. Do you have pictures, old bulletins, newspaper clippings, newsletters, anything else that will remind us of these years of Faith in South Austin? Bring them that day to spread on tables in the Wright Fellowship Hall for everyone to enjoy.

Connect With Us:

You will notice a Connection Card in the pew. If you would like to receive our electronic newsletter and correspondence about the life of the church, please let us know how to find you between Sundays by filling out the information you are comfortable giving us and placing the card in the Offering Plate.

You Can Give Electronically, (but we still accept cash and checks as usual!):

How does it work? Scan the QR code below with your smartphone. There are no additional fees for you as the donor. However, as with all such transactions, an administrative fee of 1% will be deducted from your gift before it is delivered to our church. This one-time fee is for the reasonable and customary costs of operation of the Presbyterian Mission Exchange which hosts our electronic giving. If you pay by EFT option, this will be the full extent of the fees deducted. Gifts made using a credit or debit card will be assessed an additional fee of 2.598%+$0.26 (deducted automatically by our card processing vendor). Your full donation, which includes all the fees, is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
