Collect of the Day
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer for Prophetic Witness in Society
Almighty God, whose prophets taught us righteousness in the care of your poor: By the guidance of your Holy Spirit, grant that we may do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in your sight; through Jesus Christ, our Judge and Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you and the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

God, our Creator, we are held in your everlasting arms,
Jesus, our Savior, we are healed by your wounded hands,
Holy Spirit, be present as we reach out to one another in love.

Reflection
"If we are to think of scripture not so much as we would a book of history, theology, or philosophy, but as the human experience of the divine at the thin places of encounter, then perhaps we may enter into a book that is perhaps less elusive and more accessible than we might have at first been led to believe. If the Bible is understood to be the place where not only others long dead but we ourselves encounter those thin places of suffering, joy, and mystery, and the efforts to make sense and meaning of those encounters, then perhaps we have rescued it from the clutches of the experts and the specialists and placed it where it rightly belongs, namely in the hands of those who find themselves more religious than they thought."

DIOCESAN ANTIRACISM TRAINING TO TAKE PLACE AT GRACE

Anti-Racism Training Workshop
April 14, 2018
and April 21, 2018

Note that this workshop takes place on two Saturdays, and not on consecutive days.
Online registration will open soon.

The purpose of the Diocesan antiracism workshops is to help us become aware of how the sin of racism impacts all of our lives, and how we all unconsciously and consciously participate in racist systems.  It is required for clergy in our diocese and highly recommended for lay leadership.
Dialog is the foundation of the two-day workshop (9:00 -4:00). We use group exercises and examine scientific and historical evidence concerning the origins of the concept of race and its legacy.  Coffee and lunch are served and there is no cost to register and attend for members of our diocese. There is a $25.00 registration fee for members of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and a $50.00 fee for all others.
Of the hundreds of workshop participants, more than 85% have found the workshop to be "very useful" or "extremely useful" in their work and daily lives.

Parting Thought

Sunday Morning Prayer

With trust in You our lives become simple,
assurance and peace, leaving
no room for fear.
All that we have is gift from you,
O Gracious Beloved,
all that we are is Yours as well.
May we come to see that all we give to others,
we give to ourselves and You.
As the earth produces abundant harvests,
When the sun and rain nourish the seeds,
So our fruits bless others as we grow in trust and love.
Teach us, O Merciful One, to have generous hearts,
offering all we are in the name of Love.
As spring and summer follow the autumn and winter,
so our lives have their seasons.
Help us to live in the eternal moment,
awaiting your perfect timing in ally things.
May we be content to wait in peace,
until You stir the waters within to act;
may we be patient with ourselves and with others.
As You have led all generations
through times of turmoil and war,
Guide us now, O Blessed One,
along the paths of peace.
May the people of all nations
break the bonds of fear-filled oppression;
may they bless one another with forgiveness.
Blessed by the One who lives and dwells among us!
