Looking Toward this Sunday March 11, 2018
3rd Sunday in Lent

Scripture Lessons: Numbers 21: 4-9 and John 3: 14-21
Sermon: To Believe is to Belove
Scott Kenefake will preach at 8:30 and 9:45 in Lingle Chapel and 11 in the sanctuary.

This week we'll take a look at what is (perhaps) the most well-known verse in the Bible, John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that [God] gave [God's] only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life" (NRSV). The gospel in miniature, right? Or is it? We'll discover that it actually has a different, surprising meaning when it's set within the context of this part of John's Gospel.  We'll also discover that the way the verse has often been used within contemporary American Christianity (and by evangelical popularizers like Billy Graham and others) is actually quite different than how it's been understood for most of the church's history.  This sermon promises to be an "eye opener" for many!

The Geneva Choir will sing The Tree of Life at the 8:30 service.
The Chancel Choir will sing Agnus Dei at the 11:00 service.

This Sunday  at the 8:30 service we celebrate the ordination and installation of Dave Wehrung to the Office of Elder and Linda Clausen to the Office of Deacon.

DCPC is in the process of installing a new digital soundboard in the Sanctuary.  Please be patient if you hear any issues with audio during the service, as we are working through glitches associated with the new system.
