Funding Opportunities
Best Start for Kids: RFPs Open
City of Bellevue: Human services providers
Organizations that provide human services to Bellevue residents can apply for funding from the City of Bellevue from March 5 to April 10, 2018. The city is issuing a request for proposals for services in 2019 and 2020.
Selection factors include: community needs identified in the 2017-18 Bellevue Human Services Needs Update; focus areas; prior performance; diversity and cultural competence; and consideration of the broad continuum of human services, from senior services to child care to mental health counseling. Applications due April 10.
United Way of King County - Child Care Supports for Critical Needs
United Way of King County seeks to support child care and early education programs serving children with specialized care and activities to meet individual children's most urgent needs. Investments will help keep young children thriving in care by providing supports designed for those impacted by toxic stress, trauma, and/or special needs. Applications due March 21.

Events
2018 Youth Involvement Conference
Bellevue Youth Link will be hosting the all-city Youth Involvement 2018 Conference. This event brings together over 350-400 students, educators, parents, and other community guests to discuss and address youth related issues and topics. This year's conference theme is "Dear Future Self" where Bellevue middle and high school students will explore topics ranging from personal development, diversity, youth social justice projects addressing immigration and environmental issues, college and high school transition, personal finance, technology, and even disaster and emergency preparation.
When: Friday, March 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Meydenbauer Center, 11100 NE 6th St., Bellevue
Organized by the Eastside Race and Leadership Coalition and co-sponsored by the Eastside Refugee and Immigrant Coalition, the theme of this year's event is "Moving Past Anger and Into Action! - Keeping hope alive with issues in the morning, solutions in the afternoon." The summit is designed for participants who want to have in-depth conversations with organizations that are addressing equity issues in East King County. The event will bring organizations together to share the work that they are doing, what solutions they have come up with, and what we together as a community can do to advance this work.
$25 registration fee includes breakfast refreshments, lunch, and snacks. Scholarships available.
When: Thursday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Where: Overlake School in Redmond
Bellevue Neighborhoods Conference
The theme of the conference is "Innovation, Inspiration, Connection" and includes 16 workshops focused on diversity and culture, urban growth, transportation and the environment. The day launches with continental breakfast and keynote speaker, Marc Berejka, Director of Government and Community affairs at REI, who will share REI's vision, values and "why" they will make their new corporate home on the Eastside.
Early bird $35 registration fee through April 7. Registration is $50 after April 7 if space is still available. Scholarships are available on request.

Meet Your Muslim Neighbors
Join the community conversation to learn from each other and build relationships across cultures. Through informal and face-to-face conversations, participants will leave with a better understanding of the experiences of Muslim from all walks of life, engage as neighbors and get to know Muslims directly, beyond what is presented in the media or the internet.
The program is organized King County Library System in partnership with the Muslim Community Neighborhood Association.
When: First Saturday of the month, from 1-2:30 p.m.

KidsQuest Summer Camps
This summer, KidsQuest will be offering camps at KidsQuest Children's Museum and at Bear Creek School's Valley Campus. Kids will have fun and learn through science experiments, arts and crafts, collaboration and exploration! Half and full day camps are available, with new hands-on projects and experiments every week.

Human Services Needs Update
The City of Bellevue 2017-2018 Human Services Needs Update has been updated. This biennial report summarizes a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data about human service trends and issues affecting Bellevue residents. The purpose of the Update is to provide guidance for planning, priority setting and funding activities conducted by the City over the next two years.

Hopelink's Free ESL Program
Hopelink's free "English for Work" ESL course is designed to give non-native-English speakers the verbal skills they need to find work. Students learn technology skills, receive one-on-one advising, and participate in mock interviews conducted by local employers.
Classes will be conducted at the Hopelink centers in Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland. See attached flyer for details.
Registration opens March 5. Spring quarter starts April 2 and ends June 21.

Eastside Baby Corner
Lake Washington Partners (LKWP) is collecting books to benefit Eastside Baby Corner.
New or gently-used books for ages ranging from toddler to young adult, including board, activity and second-language books, will be accepted. Donation boxes are in several LKWP Eastside locations, including:

Eastside Pathways is a strong community-wide partnership of 66 public, private, and nonprofit organizations on the Eastside that works collectively to attain better outcomes for children, cradle to career (birth to 26 years). We use the collective impact framework to work across sectors, focus on different goal areas to improve educational outcomes for children and make lasting systems change. The partnership is supported by a backbone entity that mobilizes, convenes, and facilitates its work.
