Change Philanthropy Unity Summit

NNCG Webinar Series
Learning for Action (LFA), in partnership with the Polk Bros. Foundation, will present results from a recent study on nonprofit capacity building, which included the perspectives of nonprofits, funders, and capacity building providers. The presenters will share trends, best practices, and specific recommendations for how each of the three stakeholder groups included in the study (nonprofits, funders, and capacity building providers) can improve capacity building for individual organizations and support a stronger system of capacity building in the nonprofit sector. A portion of the presentation will also highlight, from both the consultant and foundation perspective, the role that consultants play in enhancing capacity building services for their nonprofit clients.
Through this webinar, participants will have an opportunity to:
- Learn about trends and best practices in nonprofit capacity building compiled in a recent study
- Explore the key drivers of nonprofit capacity

Based on earlier writing and a webinar for Nonprofit Learning Lab, Brian Sooy published the white paper, " Six Elements of a Modern Marketing," available upon request through aespire.com. The support article includes research results from a survey of webinar attendees on the need for a systematic approach to developing marketing campaigns. The white paper includes an overview of the six elements, with practical examples and case studies.

Moore Philanthropy co-hosted the New York City celebration for Black Philanthropy Month on August 23rd. This year's theme was Giving Voice to Fuel Change. The New York conversation explored Black Diaspora Investments at Home and Abroad, which brought together a panel of Black donors, researchers and grantmakers with a proven commitment to their communities both here in the U.S., or in their country of origin. to explore the concept of strategic coherence, a critical component of high-quality program and initiative implementation. The rubric grew out of what they have learned from many years of evaluating implementation of school-based programs, but the concept applies to all types of change efforts.
Current events have raised awareness of the power dynamics that can exclude the voices of important stakeholders. Harder+Company Community Research recently published a reflective blog post to share how they used a power analysis mapping activity to help staff explore power and privilege in evaluation. Exploring the different levels of power that may exist among stakeholders on a project can help strengthen a culturally-responsive evaluation practice.
