Hello all you Cougar Fans!
The Corpus Christi Booster Club would like to wish each of you a very Happy New Year. We would also like to share some of the things the Booster Club has been busy doing to make our school and parish better so far this school year and provide an updated Booster Club Calendar for the remainder of the school year.
Let's start with just a few of the projects the Booster Club has been involved with. First, if you had the pleasure of being at one of our pep rally's this year, you got a chance to hear what our new sound system can do. This was a much needed improvement to the gym and I'm sure will be enjoyed for years to come. Please see attached pic of our state of the art sound system.
Another item the Booster Club has focused on is our "Big Soccer/Football field" behind the gym. I realize it's been way too cold to spend a lot of time outside, but the next time you get an opportunity take a look at how lush and green our field looks. I can't wait to see all the soccer players running around come spring soccer season. You can also see picture attached. :-)
Since it has been so cold, we are all lucky basketball is an indoor sport! I might be biased, but I think we at Corpus have the nicest gym in all of CYO. But, with all the traffic our court gets from basketball games and practices, not to mention the use it gets from every child who attends Corpus School during PE, it really takes some abuse. So each and every year the Booster Club provides some much need TLC and gets the court refinished. It looked so good and shiny I had to take a pic of it as well. You guessed it, see attached.
While the Booster Club is proud of all these projects, what we are the most proud to have provided is a brand new state of the art AED (Emergency Defibrillator) machine for the gym. This will provide extra piece of mind to every parent who ever has a child play or visit our gym. In the unfortunate event that it's ever needed, possible life saving equipment will be available. The Booster Club actually purchased this before school let out for Christmas break. Unfortunately, the necessity of having the AED on hand hit very close to home during the holidays. As I'm sure many of you have heard, there was a child that attends Christ the King that was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in their gym during a basketball practice. I am very happy to report that young man looks to be doing better, but it really does magnify how fortunate we are to have such a device in our gym should the need ever arise.
These are just a few of the tangible things the Booster Club has been involved with to benefit both our school and parish facilities. We were also blessed to have 277 players and at least 52 volunteer coaches participate in Fall sports for Corpus Christi and have over 190 players and 55+ volunteer coaches participating in CYO basketball and SuperStar Basketball currently.
We are so very fortunate to have so many volunteer groups and individuals lend their time, talents and money to make our school and parish truly great. The Booster Club is just a very small part of that community, but I did want to take the opportunity at the New Year to draw attention to just some of the things we have provided so far this school year. We are so very thankful to each and every one of you that has helped make all that we do possible. If you haven't had the chance yet to volunteer and join us please consider doing so. We would love to have you! Attached you'll find our Booster Club calendar for upcoming events. And be on the lookout for details of all the exciting things we have planned for 2018.
Thanks so much and GO COUGARS!
