Hometown Hope Annual Benefit
The Annual Benefit for Diversity Serves & the People of South Sudan,
on Saturday, March 3 in the Parish Hall was a great success.  Guests enjoyed Tea Time & Treasures and Happy Hour for Hope, while learning about Diversity Serves and browsing Silent Auction theme tables.

From the Senior Warden
We rejoice in the Lord and give thanks for his many blessings on our parish, now including Father James' acceptance of our Vestry's call to be our Interim Rector until we call a new, permanent Rector. Please welcome Fr. James and embrace this time of spiritual renewal and reconciliation in our parish. Fr. James will be our full time rector and we look forward to his continued labor of love among us.                             Don Ellis, Senior Warden

Phase II of the Capital Campaign Underway
The Vestry has approved the renovation project for the undercroft with a start date of March 5. The first phase, as always, is the demolition process which is anticipated to take about 3 weeks. The entire project will likely last through the summer. The result at the end of the work will be reclaimed ground level space for our choir; altar and flower guilds; and church and community group meetings. The goal is to have attractive, clean,  comfortable, useful space that retains the key architectural features that are historically significant. We will be sharing our limited parking space, once again, with our contractor crew from Phoenix Construction (Pat Hennis, owner). You should know that this is a Lexington-based company. As in our previous project, Pat's crew will need space to bring in trucks, trailers, and materials with the primary staging area to be along the East wall of the church building. We have asked the City for permission to park along the  Washington Street curb in front of the church during the project. The  Capital Campaign and the Property Committee volunteers are your contacts should you have questions, suggestions, or concerns during this effort. We are all looking to the future as we navigate through the present with God's guidance and our communal patience.  A big 'thank you' also goes out to John Dickerson, Gordon Woodcock,  Steve Shultis, the Altar Guild, the Flower Guild , Sharon Massie and  James Keane for their help relocating and making temporary spaces for
everyone affected by the construction.

Donate to The Bishop's Dollar Fund
The season of Lent offers each one of us an annual invitation to reflect on our blessings as members of the body of Christ. The movement to share out of our gratitude is one of the fruits of faithful reflection. Bishop Mark Bourlakas encourages generous support of The Bishop's Dollar fund to continue to address a variety of needs throughout the diocese not otherwise covered through our annual budget. You can mail donations to the Diocesan Office (PO Box 2279, Roanoke, VA 24009)
or donate online at www.dioswva.org.

Sarah Lanford Mission Emergency Fund (MEF)
The Christian Outreach Committee on behalf of the Sarah Lanford Mission Emergency Fund (MEF) expresses its grateful appreciation for your very
generous Thanksgiving and Christmas offerings in the amount of $2770.00. In 2017, Grace Episcopal received 206 requests for assistance with rent,  utility, food, and medical expenses in the amount of $14,693.93. We are able to cover these costs through designated pledges; COC grant money; and your Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter offerings. Thank you again for your continued support of this vital outreach ministry to residents of  Rockbridge County!

Easter Lilies
Help make our Easter celebration beautiful with lilies for the chancel. The cost of a Memorial Lily is $10. To list a memorial in the bulletin,  use one of the sign-up sheets located in the Narthex and on the Bridge,  or contact the Parish Office by phone 463-4981 or email Lisa at [email protected]  by Monday, March 26.  Please make your check payable to: Grace Episcopal Church with "Easter Lily" on the memo line. You may also buy a lily locally and donate it.

Lectio Divina
During the Sundays of Lent at the 9:15 hour we will be exploring the  spiritual discipline called Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina has been used by  Christians since the third century and helps us come to God with our whole body and whole mind. It involves a structured response to the reading of a passage of Scripture and we will be using the Gospel for each Sunday. We will be learning to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit, the teacher  promised by Christ. You just  need to bring yourself and a desire to grow in the light of Christ.

Adult Inquirers and Confirmation Class, 9:15, Library
All are welcome to attend, whether you are considering confirmation, want to know more about the Episcopal Church.

Godly Play, Tuesday, 3:45 - 4:30
Godly Play provides a time and a space for children to engage with God and with the story of God's people in the Bible. A Godly Play session includes a time to gather in a circle with music and singing, a time to listen to a story, a time of wondering, and a time for children to respond to the story through art or creative play.
Godly Play will not meet March 27 or April 3.

On the Weekly Calendar
DEO groups continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays
DEO - Discipling Each Other, is a simple practice that has turned out to be surprisingly refreshing and energizing. We meet weekly for an hour; there is no leader or mentor, and it is completely confidential. This kind of mutual discipling provides practical ways to see Christ working in our daily life and in our church. There is a Monday morning group at 9 am and one for women on Thursdays at 7:30 pm.
If you are interested, contact Doug or Libby Cumming 540-462-2968 [email protected] or  [email protected]

Men's Prayer Breakfast
Men of our parish will meet in our Parish Hall on Tuesdays at 7 am weekly for breakfast, prayer and fellowship. All are welcome!

Kendal Bible Study and Holy Eucharist with Fr. James on Thursdays, at 10:00.
