Australia Day celebrations will return to Holroyd Gardens in 2018, bigger and better than Cumberland Council's inaugural event in 2017, which attracted more than 15,000 people.
Two amazing musicians are headlining a fun schedule...

... culminating in an impressive fireworks display.
It will be a fair like atmosphere with
thrilling amusement rides, delicious food, awesome acts and family friendly fun.
The event is free and will run from 5-9pm on Friday 26 January 2018.

Granville Railway Disaster Memorial
A special memorial service was held on Thursday 18 January to recognise 41 years since the Granville Railway Disaster; the worst railway disaster in Australian history.
The annual memorial service is an opportunity to remember the 84 people killed and publicly honour those who risked their own lives to help.
Cumberland Council is committed to ensuring that the memory of this day lives on and recently approved a grant of $10,000 for the memorial event in 2019 as part of the Cumberland Community Grants Program.
Remembering those lost when a crowded commuter train derailed at 8:10am on 18 January 1977.
Poppy in the Park
Cumberland Council is partnering with Sydney Olympic Park to present a series of free Poppy in the Park story-time sessions for children aged five years or under at Blaxland Riverside Park.
Poppy in the Park activities are designed to help children learn in a creative and fun environment. After having stories read to them, kids will get to enjoy music and craft.
The event is free and will run from 10am to 10.45am every second Tuesday, from 30 January to 10 April, at the
Blaxland Riverside Park Kiosk in Sydney Olympic Park

Construction has started on Merrylands Commuter Car Park, which will be closed for 10 months from 22 January 2018, while additional levels are constructed. You can find out more about this Transport for NSW project

Calling for EOIs: Use of sporting facilities
Council is now seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) for the use of Council's sporting facilities from sporting groups, community organisations and other interested parties where all or the majority of their activities occur during the period April to September each year. All applications must be submitted by 2 February 2018.
