Ambassador Bonnie McElveen-Hunter and Ambassador Stuart Bernstein, both of whom served the United States as ambassadors to Finland and Denmark respectively, spoke to over 80 members of the Palm Beach Civic Association Wednesday.

Palm Beach Town Council Appoints New President, Welcomes

The Palm Beach Town Council officially appointed a new president and a new president pro tem, and welcomed a new member on Tuesday.

The new appointees included Danielle Moore as council president, Maggie Zeidman as president pro tem; and Lew Crampton was sworn in as the new member of the board, replacing former council President Richard Kleid, who retired Tuesday.

A proposal to demolish and rebuild Duck's Nest, a historic Palm Beach home, was postponed another month by the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Wednesday. The proposal to reconstruct Duck's Nest, the second-oldest home in Palm Beach, was originally brought before the commission in December.

James Patterson Donating $2 Million to Classroom Libraries
James Patterson is stepping up his game. The best-selling author has increased his annual donations for classroom libraries from $1.75 million to $2 million. Scholastic Inc. told the Associated Press on Monday that Patterson is distributing 4,000 gifts of $500 each to teachers around the country.
