Update Yahrzeit Information in Shul Cloud
|
If you have suffered the loss of a family member and wish to be notified of the Yahrzeit please log into ShulCloud with your username and password. Once you are in your account click on the Yahrzeit Tab, 3rd tab
from the left on the top. Click Add Yahrzeit. This will take you to Create New Yahrzeit. The fields are self-explanatory. For accuracy of the notification, it is important to know if the deceased died before or after sundown. You will then receive a ShulCloud generated notice by email or hard copy if no email address is on file from the Synagogue prior to the date that the Yahrzeit will be observed.
If you are unable to log in or need help to input the information into the system please contact Marsha Lustig who will be happy to help you.

With the month of Nissan upon us, we once again find ourselves preparing for Pesach. In accordance with long standing Jewish tradition and Halacha we ask you to donate to the Maot Chittim Campaign which enables the poor, the needy and the lonely, both here and abroad, in Eretz Yisrael, to receive support before and during the holiday.
We ask that your contributions be made sooner rather than later so that we may be able to make a timely difference in the lives of those people in need.
You can make a contribution on-line by clicking here and selecting Maot Chittim from the drop down menu under donation information or you can send your check to the shul office. We can assure you that your contributions will be put to good use.

Tomchei Shabbos of Queens Passover Food Deliveries March 25, 2018
|
Can You Help Us on Sunday Morning?
We need you to help ensure that people in Queens and beyond will have food at their Seders. Please let me know if you (and your kids) can help for a couple of hours.
Here is the information:
As many of you know, on the Sunday before Passover a group of us assist Tomchei Shabbos of Queens in packing cars and distributing food to needy families. As you can tell from the attached Flyer (which has all the information), the goal is to provide food on March 25, 2018 to over 450 needy families. We need your help! Here is some additional information:
1. For Westchester volunteers, we are meeting in the YIS parking lot at
7:30 am
. and driving down to 33-23 Union St. in Flushing. For those people who will meet us there you should arrive by 8:15. This gives us enough time to figure out the system which changes each year (e.g. a family of 4 gets 3 chickens etc.).
2. If we have a good showing we should be done by 12:15 but you can leave early if you cannot stay the entire time.
3. Kids can come but there is a lot of traffic and would recommend that this is for kids 11 and older. If you have younger kids, we can send you out to make deliveries instead of packing. 4. Please tell me if you think you can make it and if you know anyone else (from any shul or location) that can help. Last year we had a great turnout, and ensured a wonderful Passover for many people. They are relying on us in a big way. Let's do it again! Call with any questions.

YIS Heritage Mission to Poland 2018 Registration Deadline is here. Please join us.
|
Dear friends,
The March 15th registration deadline is here for our 2nd YIS Mission to Poland taking place this Summer during the "9 Days" and Tisha B'Av. We will once again be guided by noted historian and teacher, David Bernstein, of the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, and spiritually led by our own Rabbi Morgenstern. The trip is again being run under the auspices of Heritage Seminars.
We are currently a group of close to 30 people and encourage anyone who hasn't registered yet, or has been thinking about joining us, to register and be a part of this highly impactful trip. We will not only be remembering the centuries-old Polish Jewish communities of yesteryear, but giving dignity and life-affirming Kavod to the millions who were murdered on Polish soil in the Shoah. Please consider joining us in this holy mission.
To register, please click here.
