Why Charter Changes Are Necessary

I'd like to put into perspective the proposed changes to our charter.  But first, I want to apologize for all the confusion.  No one was more disappointed than I was that we even had to make these changes.  As everyone knows, I led the "Yes Campaign" and made more promises about what a limited service city would be than anyone.

No one ever told me, or anyone with the "Yes Campaign," that what we were proposing had an unconstitutional element.  We were assured this innovative concept would work.  It was vetted by the Office of Legislative Counsel before being passed by the Legislature, and then signed by the Governor before being presented to you in a referendum.  Read More

Visit City Hall at New Location

In mid-December City Hall relocated from leased space to a permanent new building at 310 Technology Parkway. The new City Hall is 1/2 mile west of its former space. The telephone number and all other contact information remains the same.

In April 2017 city leaders had announced plans to purchase a two-story building which would serve as the new city hall.

The decision to purchase was based on several factors. Remaining at its current location, the city would be facing a significant rent increase. Conversely purchasing property would be a more fiscally prudent option. The new building had more square footage and would also allow the city to lease out a portion of the building, providing additional income to offset the monthly mortgage.    Read More

Peachtree Corners welcomed three returning councilmembers to the City Council with a short swearing-in ceremony at the new City Hall.

Jeanne Aulbach, who won the Post 4 seat in a December runoff, was sworn in along with Weare Gratwick (Post 6) on Jan. 2.

Post 2 Councilmember Eric Christ, who was also re-elected, was sworn in at the Jan. 16 council meeting. Both Gratwick and Christ ran unopposed.

Homeowners Guide to Septic Tank Maintenance

Did you know it is the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain, repair, or replace all components of the septic system so that it will protect the environment and public health.

The number of bedrooms determines the size of the septic tank serving a single-family residence. The minimum size septic tank approved for use in the State of Georgia is a 1,000-gallon tank, which will serve a three- or four-bedroom house.

Tips on How to Hire a Contractor
At least once a week we get calls to complain about a contractor that someone has hired and asking if there is anything that we can do to help them?  Unfortunately, as a Building Department, our only authority is to ensure the work that was permitted conforms to the Building Codes. Rarely can we address the "quality of work" as long as it meets the code requirement.
Honoring Our U.S. Veterans

Good news! We are over half way in meeting our fund-raising goal of $500,000. But we are still looking for donors to make it to the finish line.

You can be part of the vision to build a veterans monument for the City of Peachtree Corners to honor all military veterans, past, present, and future, for their service to the United States of America and its citizens, and to the preservation of freedom throughout the world.

Visit the Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument website, www.ptcvets.net, and learn how you can make a donation, buy a brick for a veteran and other details.
