Amy McCreath appointed new dean of Cathedral Church of St. Paul
The Rev. Amy Ebeling McCreath has been appointed by Bishop Alan M. Gates as the new dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston. The Cathedral Chapter approved the appointment at its Feb. 27 meeting.
McCreath will be the ninth dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, succeeding former dean Jep Streit who retired last February after a 21-year tenure. McCreath is the first woman to serve as cathedral dean in the Diocese of Massachusetts. She begins in her new position on Sunday, April 22.
Bishops of Massachusetts Diocese Issue Joint Call: "From Lamentation to Action"
The Bishops of the Episcopal diocese of Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts have issued a joint call, "From Lamentation to Action," in which they urge solidarity in response to a call from the Bishops United Against Gun Violence coalition. Here are ways to participate:
1) They have designated March 14 as a Day of Lamentation for the lost and for the guilty, asking people to gather in their congregations, or pause at some time on that day, to remember. A Litany of Lamentations will be included in the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon (in Spanish) services that day. There is also a call for students, teachers and allies to take part in a National School Walkout at 10:00 a.m. for 17 minutes. Information about this can be found at [email protected].
2) The Bishops encourage participation locally and nationally in the March 24 "March For Our Lives." The Cathedral will offer hospitality and a gathering place that day beginning at 10:00 a.m., in partnership with the Diocese and Episcopal City Mission. Those taking part in the sister march here in Boston should plan to meet at the Cathedral by 11:30 a.m. Additional youth-led organizing activities are being planned. Conscious Contact, Wednesdays 7-8 p.m.
This program, led by Deacon Cynthia Pape and Bill Comer and based on the 11th step of the Alcoholics Anonymous program (improving conscious contact with God as we understand him...through prayer and meditation), continues every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the church. It's open to everyone.

Faith Matters this Sunday continues with "Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John".

I Have Called You Friends: Hope and Resurrection School
.
Hope and Resurrection School is providing the only secondary education in South Sudan. Come and hear about how far the students have come and the work to keep the school going.
With this Journal we are guided through Lent with a short quote from the Gospel of John, with suggestions for private and personal prayer, and with space for us to respond daily in whatever way we choose: writing a prayer, poem, or brief reflection; or drawing an image of some kind. We hope also to be able to collect our responses and gather these reflections into our own Lenten booklet for next year. Booklets are available in the Lawrence Room on Sunday.
Faith Matters takes place in the Lawrence Room and is open to all.
The Sunday Morning Council will meet on Sunday, March 18, following Coffee Hour.
Easter Memorials Being Gathered
Dedicating Easter flowers is a wonderful way to remember those who have died who held a major place in your life and memory. The Cathedral office is gathering names and donations for our Easter Memorial dedications. You can use the forms in the Sunday bulletins or email your names in to the Cathedral
office. Checks in any amount would be very much appreciated to help with the cost.
