A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

Educators and parents across the nation are deeply saddened each time there is another report of gun violence in a school. The recent mass shooting in Parkland, Florida has re-ignited the fear we all have that no school is immune from such a tragic event.

The security precautions that we currently have in place at St. Rose include camera surveillance, classroom doors that can be locked from the inside, outer classroom doors that are kept locked during the school day (except the front door), lock down drills with our students, and training for our faculty. The Advisory Council will soon begin to explore other best practices we can put into place to keep our campus as safe as possible.

Perhaps you have read about the planned March 14th Student Walk-Out that is being planned by high school students across the nation, with the goal of lobbying Congress to pass gun-control legislation. Although St. Rose will not be taking part in this Walk-Out, we will be praying for an end to gun violence that day. If a local event materializes, we will leave it up to you as parents to decide whether or not to take your child.

I truly appreciate the great job our parents do as ambassadors for St. Rose School. Word of mouth continues to be our best recruitment tool for enrollment. I hold regular school tours at 9:00 AM on Thursdays or by appointment. If you know of families who may be interested in providing the gift of a Catholic Education to their children, please ask them to call us to sign up for a tour.

Sincerely,
Kathy Ryan

Healing Mass & Lunch for Fire Survivors
There will be a Healing Mass at St. Rose Parish on Saturday, March 10th, to offer material, emotional and spiritual support to those who lost homes, businesses and jobs. Members of the Order of Malta and Catholic Charities will be on hand to offer support. The day includes a bilingual Lourdes Healing Mass at 10:30 am, a lunch in the St. Rose Parish Hall, with a Health and Life Job Fair. Those who did not suffer a loss, likely know others who did. Please pass this onto them and let them know about this upcoming healing event at St. Rose. Please inform call the parish office at 542-6448 to confirm how many family members will be attending for lunch.
In case you missed it & OTHER STUFF!
FLU & ALLERGY SEASON
Hopefully, FLU season is coming to a close, BUT  ALLERGY season is now upon us!
Suffering from allergies while in class is distracting and difficult. If your child suffers from seasonal allergies or hay fever, over the counter medications should be given by the parent prior to sending your child to school to achieve the optimal relief.
Per school policy, office staff will not dispense allergy medication during the school day, when 24 hour medications are readily available for parents to give to their children.

As always, children with severe coughs, colds and / or fevers should  not come to school.
Please refer to the Health section of the school handbook (pg. 7)
