How Gender is Shaping the 2018 Midterms
In a new piece for The Hill, Barbara Lee, founder and president of the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, and CAWP director Debbie Walsh discuss the many ways in which gender will shape this year's election. Both organizations have partnered on Gender Watch 2018, a project to track, analyze, and illuminate gender dynamics in election 2018. Mississippi Finally Sends a Woman to Washington!
If things go as expected, Mississippi will finally have a woman in its congressional delegation. Governor Phil Bryant is poised to appoint Agriculture Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith to fill Senator Thad Cochran's seat. Senator Cochran is resigning for health reasons. This leaves Vermont as the only state that has never sent a woman to the US House or Senate. Read more in this piece in Roll Call.
