Heroes of the Week

Amanda Tabb

Congratulations to this week's Heroes Lisa Collier and Amanda Tabb! We hope you enjoy your up-close parking spot.

A Note to Lisa Collier, 7th Grade Teacher:
"Mrs. Collier is a hero! She has a soft heart for understanding students and their needs. She wants to be the best teacher so she is constantly pushing herself to try new things, to ask questions, and always wants to learn. 7th grade is a year of many ups and downs and she fits in the 7th grade team like a perfect piece to the puzzle. As a middle school teacher, I can say that I am blessed to work with her but, most of all, the students are blessed to be in her classroom and the middle school team is blessed to have her!  Thanks for taking the risk and following God's calling to be a middle school teacher. You were made for this! Congratulations Mrs. Collier! Deserving of the hero title for sure! We LOVE having you as a part of the middle school team! "

A Note to Amanda Tabb, Elementary Dean of Students:

"Your leadership and passion for our school is evident in your interactions with the families, students, and staff at MCS. We are blessed to have God use you to promote community and joy each day. Continue to lean into HIM as He makes you abundantly joyfilled!"

"You have been such a valuable resource for me and the rest of the school! You truly have a servant's heart and are going above and beyond to support and love on our students and staff. We are so grateful for you and appreciate everything you do!"

"The aide team is so blessed to have you as our leader! Your love for Christ and care for us is evident in all that you do. Thank you for your support, your guidance, your open door and for the tremendous amount of fun and joy that you bring to our team! We appreciate you!"

KWAVE Interview Airs Tomorrow, Saturday (1/20), at 10AM

On Tuesday, Mr. Moore had the privilege of joining Jennifer Friend (CEO of Project Hope Alliance and our special guest speaker for chapel on Monday) for an interview with KWAVE 107.9. They discussed the issue of "homelessness" in Orange County and Monday's "Difference Maker" Chapels (see details below). We are grateful to KWAVE for giving us the opportunity to share this important topic with our community.

Don't miss the interview.  Tune in to 107.9 tomorrow morning at 10AM!

Don't Miss Monday Morning's "Difference Maker" Chapels
Jennifer Friend
Monday, January 22nd, will be a POWERFUL day! We will have Jennifer Friend as our guest speaker in both Middle School and Elementary Chapels. We will also have a special Parent Q&A with Jennifer in between the two chapel times. If you have any questions bubbling up about how to discuss and step into the growing problem of homelessness in Orange County as a family, THIS Q&A will be golden.

Jennifer experienced homelessness as a child. Her story is POWERFUL. She is now in the trenches as CEO of Project Hope Alliance and her mission is to end the cycle of homelessness, one child at a time.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWERFUL

These chapels will serve as a foundation for ongoing Difference Maker conversations with our students for the remainder of the year. You do not want to miss being able to explore this with your children.

Our students will learn more details on Monday about our Difference Maker Grant Program that they will be given the opportunity to apply for. Our prayer is that what they learn will encourage empathy, which will then shape their design thinking for the solutions to needs that they want to be a part of changing.

Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Please note the Q&A session at 9:05AM.

Fun Friday U-Group Competition
Our U-Groups kicked off the new year by sharing their favorite part of Christmas Break and one New Year's goal, along with competing in a "maker" challenge!  Each group was given 25 noodles, 25 mini marshmallows, 1 large marshmallow, and 12 inches of tape!  With those items, they had to construct the tallest structure possible that could support the large marshmallow at the top.  We loved what we saw from this activity including ideating, strategizing, collaborating, experimenting, and persevering!  2 groups will be awarded prizes on Monday, Most Creative Structure and the Grand Prize of Tallest Structure!
