Pawpaw Double Nickel Bike Ride will Feature Beautiful Roads
Pawpaw Double Nickel riders Join us for this gorgeous 55-mile road ride on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Pawpaw Double Nickel Bicycle Ride starts and ends at the 2017 Ohio Pawpaw Festival, taking you from Albany on a circle tour around Zaleski State Forest. Enjoy challenging climbs, ridgetop views and sweet downhills, all along the Raccoon Creek Watershed. A rest stop awaits you at the halfway point. There is also a shorter 20-mile loop option.

The self-guided, self-paced ride is free for your enjoyment, sponsored by Athens Bicycle and featuring some of owner Peter Kotses' favorite roads. The ride includes a course map, marked turns on the roads and the aid station. Afterward, riders can choose to enjoy the festival (admission fees apply). Visit our website for full details.

Look over our closeout selection and see if anything matches your needs (and size) -- then come in and talk to us to make sure it's just the right fit for you. We will be happy to order anything that we don't already have on the sales floor.
Bike Raffle to Benefit the Athens Conservancy: You Could Win!
Trek 7.2 FX Bicycle
We are pleased to again donate a bicycle to be raffled off as a fundraiser for the Athens Conservancy during the Ohio Pawpaw Festival.

Buy a ticket to win a Trek FX2 bicycle, a versatile machine for having fun and getting in shape.

The raffle winner will be invited to the shop to be fitted for the proper size bike, which we will order in and expertly assemble. Or, if the winner prefers a different bike style, we will credit the value of the FX2 toward a bike of his or her choice.

We (Peter Kotses and Meredith Erlewine, Athens Bicycle owners) support the Conservancy's work in our community because green space and outdoor recreation are important to us. If you enjoy riding your bike in the Athens area, you likely have benefitted from the Conservancy's strategic property purchases that have greatly increased local recreation opportunities.

Ticket prices are as follows: $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, $10 for 13 tickets. Raffle tickets available at Athens Bicycle through noon on Friday, Sept. 15, and also will be available at the Conservancy's booth at the Ohio Pawpaw Festival Sept. 15-17. The drawing will take place at 2 p.m. on the 17th.

Bryant Noble

We are sad to announce that long-time staff member Bryant Noble is moving on to a new job, but we also are excited for him because his new job as a forestry inspector with CN Utility Consulting will allow him to use his forestry degree and work in his field of study.

Please stop in and congratulate Bryant on this new opportunity. He'll still be around the shop on weekdays through Sept. 15, and some Saturdays through November. Watch for an announcement of a reception at the shop to officially wish him well.

With this staff departure we will be looking for new faces to consider adding to our team. If you are a bicycle enthusiast, enjoy thinking creatively to solve problems, understand and enjoy what it means to provide excellent customer service, and truly look forward to meeting new people all day long, please e-mail a cover letter and resume to owner Peter Kotses at pete@athensbicycle.com.
