Get Prepared for the VOS 2018 Conference at Snowmass Village!
Dear VOS members!
The preliminary conference schedule is also available on the website or by clicking here. Similar to last year, we have a healthy mix of the latest in orthopedics both in small animal and equine medicine.
This is also the year that we will be offering a lab, sponsored by Arthrex. You have to register for the lab separately from the conference or by clicking here. It fills up fast so I would get on that.
There are several VOS board positions that will be up for grabs this spring.
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for one of these positions, please
email Rich Evans
. It would be ideal but not mandatory if the nominees were present at the conference. The open board positions are:
- President Elect: 1 year (3-year commitment in total)
- Communications: 3 years (*Note ... this is the best position)
- Assistant Scientific Program Chair: 4 years
- Awards: 3 years
- Research: 3 years
Ciao for now!

SPOTLIGHT ON ... KYON VETERINARY SURGICAL PRODUCTS
|
Locations:
Zürich, Switzerland and Boston, USA.
What year was the company started?
1999
What products / services does your company offer?
We invent new techniques for orthopedic and trauma surgery. We design and manufacture using cutting edge proprietary Swiss technologies and continually refine devices and techniques to optimize outcomes. We offer comprehensive training events on THR, TTA, Fracture Plating, TPLO, PAUL, PGR and more.
What should Veterinary Orthopedic Society members know about your company?
Acceptance of new procedures is not only dependent on the performance of a device, but also on the collaborative infrastructure teaching, supporting and curating the clinical use. We have been fortunate to work with many exceptional veterinary surgeons and professionals whose contributions to these techniques are invaluable. Our annual symposium, April 20-22, 2018 in Zürich is the perfect opportunity to learn from and connect with the surgeons most engaged in the collaborative effort. Join us.
Can you explain a challenging situation that your company was able to solve?
Each procedure represents a complex synthesis of known and emergent challenges, resolved over many years. Since 1999, sound biomechanical rationale, conscientious design, state-of-the-art manufacture, and refinement based on clinical feedback have informed the evolution of the Zürich Cementless Hip Replacement System. Now in its sixth generation, our THR system offers an immediately and indefinitely stable solution, capable of performing throughout the active life of the most demanding, often very young, patients.
Can you tell us about any new products or services your company is developing?
Instructional materials, pdf's, videos, even planning tools for the Osirix and Horos platforms are available within the community area of the KYON website -
www.kyon.ch. This allows course attendees to better prepare for their time at our training events and clients to stay informed of recent updates and experience.
2018 is going to be a big year for the elbow. Our Proximal Abducting Ulnar Osteotomy (PAUL) procedure, now well accepted throughout Europe, is growing steadily in North America as practitioners observe the promising clinical outcomes. For patients in need of elbow replacement, our medial elbow replacement system/s are entering the next phase of controlled clinical release and will be presented at the Symposium in April. Visit us at our VOS booth to learn more.
