From the Desk of the Superintendent
Dear Harmony Family,

I would like to take a moment to express my condolences over the recent tragedy at Stoneman-Douglas High School in Florida. It is absolutely heartbreaking for a community to suffer such a tremendous loss, and it is my top priority that we do everything within our power to ensure that Harmony Public Schools DFW is providing a safe and supportive learning environment for your student. I assure you that every potential threat is taken seriously. Each of our campuses has a Safety Committee focused on continuous reflection, review, and revision of our policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We will also continue to conduct regularly scheduled safety drills on every campus throughout the school year. In order to provide the safest learning environment possible, we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding threats.

At Harmony Public Schools, we recognize and appreciate that you are entrusting us with not only your child’s education, but also with their safety. We take this responsibility very seriously and student safety remains our top priority. We ask that students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators are deliberate in their efforts to stay aware of surroundings, and to promptly report any suspicious behavior that they observe in person, in conversation, online or in social media. We are all prioritizing our commitment to support the social and emotional well being of our student body, and open communication regarding concerns at all levels. We will continue to partner with our local law enforcement, first responders, city officials, and community partners, to ensure a proactive and collaborative effort in providing the safest possible environment for students to learn.

While this may not officially be Teacher Appreciation Week, there is no better time to uplift and appreciate our educators. It is no secret that our dedicated professionals go above and beyond the call of duty everyday without due recognition. This heightened focus on the safety within our education system can also serve as a reminder for us all to express our appreciation for everything that they do to support our students and our community.
