March 8, 2018

World Compass Academy engages and inspires learners in a safe, challenging, and individualized learning environment, which cultivates and fosters character, a lifelong love of learning, and the skills to engage in the global community.

Our Chinese New Year Celebration was a success!

Students were treated to performances by both fellow students and staff! Mandarin teacher, Yueling Yu, choreographed each grade level performance, along with a dance performed by our amazing staff. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for your hard work in decorating and helping with the show.

Talent Show & Family Dance, April 13

Dear WCA Parents, Guardians and Students,

We are excited to announce that PTO will be hosting a Talent Show and a Family Dance on Friday,  April 13 , from 5:30 - 9:00pm. The Talent Show will be held in two parts: students will perform at both a School Assembly at 1:45pm and after school at the Talent Show. All auditions will be held after school on Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5, from 4:00-6:00pm.

Parents must be in attendance the evening of the Talent Show and Family Dance and are responsible for their own children .

Students who wish to audition must follow these requirements:
  1. Must be in PreK - 7 th grade at World Compass Academy (no outside participants).
  2. WCA reserves the right to allow/not allow any acts or auditions that are deemed inappropriate or dangerous.
  3. Students must be "performance ready" and have everything they will need for the actual performance. We will need the name of the song and artist if they are using music. We will stream the music for the students. It will count against the students' audition scores if they do not come with everything they need on the day of the audition. If singing, a karaoke version is strongly encouraged so that we can hear the student and not the voices on the recording .
  4. Students may audition a maximum of two acts (solo and/or group act).
  5. In order to get an audition time, SIGN UP HERE! If you need help with this, just ask!
  6. PTO volunteers will be monitoring the halls outside of the audition room, but there will be no snacks provided, so please plan ahead!
  7. Students may only audition if they are able to attend the audition, both rehearsals, and after school performance. No exceptions will be made. Rehearsals are April 10, from 4:00 - 6:00pm and April 12, from 4:00 - 5:30pm.
  8. The Act must be no more than 5 minutes long (including transitions/set-up/props, etc.)
  9. The Act must be able to be performed safely on the stage (no stunting that involves lifting another person off the ground).
  10. The Act/Theme must be school appropriate. Please remember this includes PreK - middle school.
  11. Costumes must be school appropriate.
  12. If using music for your act, the song title and artist must be emailed to Alexis Harvey twenty-four hours prior to your audition. Songs must not reference any inappropriate topics or include inappropriate language.
  13. WCA will provide mats, AV equipment and music. All other equipment or props must be provided by the performers. Students need to be able to move props without assistance.
Acts do not have to be limited to music! There are so many talents!
We could have martial arts, gymnastics, cheer, vocal and instrumental acts, dance routines, magic shows, the list goes on! We are SUPER excited to see the performances! SIGN UP HERE! For questions, please email Alexis Harvey.

Sincerely,
Alexis Harvey
Talent Show Volunteer
