Celebrate Earth Day with the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy! MHLC is hosting a Fun Run on the Rail Trail for Earth Day. Run, walk, jog, or roll for a cause on Saturday, April 21, at 9am. All proceeds will benefit the  Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy Sign up by yourself or with your family, friends, or your colleagues. The Town of Bethlehem Parks & Recreation Department presents the annual "EGG" Stravaganza Special Event on Saturday, March 24, at 10am at the Elm Avenue Park (in the large pavilion). April 7 is alternate date if there is rain date or poor ground conditions. This event will feature live clown/comedic entertainment followed by an egg hunt on the park grounds. Recommended ages for participation are 2 - 11 years old. Bring your own basket or bag and join the "egg" citement!

If you didn't get your fill of Irish music on St. Patrick's Day, visit the  Bethlehem Public Library on Wednesday, March 21, from 1-2:30pm for an afternoon of Irish musicHailing from Killarney, Ireland, O'Shea and the Drank the Gold Duo are sure to get feet tapping with their authentic Irish tunes, jigs, folk songs and more. This is a FREE event and all ages are welcome. Refreshments will be served. This concert is co-sponsored by Bethlehem Senior Projects.

The  first 60 Bethlehem residents who order an Earth Machine composter will receive a FREE Kitchen Collector,  thanks to Nova Products. The  composter sale is open to all area residents - you don't need to live in town to participate. You must  pre-order online by 4/1 and pick up at the Town of Bethlehem Spring Recycle Fest 4/14 (click for event details).

The Delmar Farmers Market has officially banned plastic shopping bags. They are being replace by 100% post consumer waste paper bags that the market is donating to our vendors for the season. A token fee of $.25 will be charged for them as a reminder for customers to bring their own re-usable shopping bags in the future.
The market has a "bag tree" where customers can freely take as they need for use while at the market. Any local stores interested in donating reusable bags to the market may contact Paul Tick.

Community Caregivers will hold an Open House on March 22 from 4-6pm. Area residents can join them to learn about the "neighbor helping neighbor" services for themselves or a loved one. Resources to support family caregivers will be available, and prospective volunteers are welcome. This FREE event will be held at their office at 2021 Western Ave, Suite 104, Guilderland.  Call 518.456.2898 for more info.

The last All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast, sponsored by the Sons of The American Legion, will be held on Sunday, March 25, from 9am-12pm. Don't miss your chance to help an amazing cause!    All proceeds benefit Veteran service programs. The breakfast buffet is at the   Nathaniel A. Blanchard American Legion Post 1040  in Delmar. Adults are $10, and kids under 12 are $5.

The Bethlehem Chabad presents two upcoming events: Family Chocolate Model Sader - e xperience the fifteen steps of the Seder while enjoying it all chocolate-style - on Sunday, March 18, from 12-1:30pm, and Pesach Seder with Chabad - enjoy the Passover holiday with your family and community at an inspirational Seder complete with hand-baked Shmurah Matzah, four cups of wine, lively singing, and delicious four course dinner - on Friday, March 30, from 6:45-9:45pm. Visit their Facebook page for complete details.

The Internal Revenue Service recently released an updated Withholding Calculator on IRS.gov and a new version of Form W-4 to help taxpayers check their 2018 tax withholding following passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December.  The IRS urges taxpayers to use these tools to make sure they have the right amount of tax taken out of their paychecks.  COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS  

The Town of Bethlehem Spring Clean-Up will begin April 2 and run through May 4. The collection hours are 7am-3:30pm. Acceptable items include Yard Waste (leaves, grass clippings, etc.) raked loose to curbside, placed in biodegradable paper bags, or in reusable containers; Brush and Branches (cut to 4 ft. length max, stacked neatly, no more than 3 ft. tall); Wood Fencing; Waste Wood or Lumber; Wood Bed Frames (no mattresses, box springs); Wood Lawn Furniture (no cushions);and Wood Storm Windows. Unacceptable items include  Garbage or Trash;  Clearing of Vacant Lots;  Stumps, Sod, Rocks, or Dirt;  Metal Items (appliances, barrels, or electronics);  Plastic Bags or Flower Pots;  Furniture, Mattresses, or Rugs; and  Tires or Batteries.  No brush or trees from private contractors is allowed.

Contemporary abstract painter Michael Nighswonger is returning to the Capital District with a pop-up  exhibit of over 40 pieces from his latest collection from March 15 - 25 in Delmar, NY. The exhibit,  which will be held at the recently vacated TD Bank building at 343 Delaware Avenue, will be open  daily from 10am- 8pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public. View the current  menus  for  Extra Napkin  and  Mercato's Pizzeria & Restaurant ! Both restaurant are located across the street from Delaware Plaza - Extra Napkin serves up burgers, salads, wraps, juice and more, and Mercato's has been providing Delmar with pizza and Italian favorites since 1997.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 10 AM and 2 PM, the Town of Bethlehem accepts donations for Habitat ReStore of the Capital District of slightly used furnishings, cabinets, and other building materials at the Town of Bethlehem Transfer Station, 136 Rupert Rd, Selkirk, NY.
