Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Frazier
by: Joyce Levi
During a recent phone call to AAUW Life Member the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth H. Frazier, she didn't sound 102 years old, her current age. Still spry and forward-looking, she was delighted to get news of Vero Beach and our AAUW Branch. Here during the 80's and 90's and into the 21st century, she wrote:
AAUW membership broadens horizons,
stimulates thinking, removes stereotypes
and gives women a respected place to fight.
AAUW/VB people, causes, activities and
meetings will always be an important part
of my lifetime memory treasures.
Elizabeth was one of the first women to graduate from Yale Divinity School, and it was there she encountered AAUW. She served as president of the New Haven Branch, the second oldest in the country. Her profession took her to numerous states and AAUW branches. Many years later, she and her husband Dr. Donald Frazier served as pastors in Vero Beach. She was introduced to our local
AAUW Branch at a Dodger Pines luncheon in 1984, later serving on the board and offering many invocations at our AAUW meetings. Her
Art of Writing Invocations
has appeared in many of our yearbooks since then. She once remarked that her best advice as we grow older is to "use it or lose it." Now living in Connecticut, she sends her love to all.
