BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter    February 1, 2018        Vol. 37 Issue 5

Hello Brewster Day Camp,

Happy February! "I thought you took the winter off - because you run a summer camp, right?!"

We in the Winter Office are fully engaged in interviewing & hiring, enrolling & planning for BDC'18 which, to us, feels right around the corner! We are excited to share news of our summer leadership (see details below). As we continue to assemble our staff for this summer, I am thinking a lot about FAMILY.

Our BDC FAMILY is comprised of staff and campers, as well as all of the people who support those two groups - namely you! Some people possess a very narrow definition of FAMILY. I prefer to think of FAMILY as a group of people who actively work to learn and grow together - no matter what - and especially when that work is hard - regardless of shared genetics or legal status. By my definition, our BDC FAMILY epitomizes the concept of FAMILY!

As our BDC FAMILY continues to grow and expand each season, I want to share some exciting news. Early last month, Marcia Galazzi, became our first Executive Director Emeritus. In this new role she will continue to write, speak, teach, and lead as a staunch advocate for children and FAMILIES in our community. After careful, thoughtful, and extensive preparation and planning, Marcia has asked me to become the first Chief Executive Officer of The Family Schools, Inc. to ensure that her vision continues to guide our organization.

I am excited to bring my attention equally to both the left and right hands of our organization - the school and the camp - while remaining true to our shared mission: Supporting Children and FAMILIES. Along with the capable Leadership Teams for the school and the camp, we truly are a FAMILY business whose work is supporting FAMILIES in doing their work!

Please join us (or come visit us) at 3570 Main Street to share some...

Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace!
