Greetings!
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and that the new year brings you and your family health, peace, prosperity and joy.
Here at Good Counsel Malta House, our year has gotten off to a great start with some fresh faces and new opportunities for our moms, and for you!

Empowerment Through the Arts
With a
mission to build skills and strengthen under-served communities through the use of participatory photography,
Focal Point Project
worked with our mothers to capture and give voice to their journeys in both pictures and words.
|
|
Said Samantha, one of our residents,
"Focal Point helped me to focus my attention on the things that matter most. For me, that is my children. My favorite picture is the one of me with Kiliana,
'Love from Mom'.
It captures the love I have for her, as well as my other two miracles."
What a blessing and a gift to have been able to offer this Life Skills Program to our residents. If you have ideas for unique opportunities to enhance our programming, please contact
Darlene McGhee
, House Manager, at 203-857-0088.

Giving Back
Our moms continue to be inspired with their work to feed those who are homeless with their "Sandwich Making Project" benefiting the
Open Door Shelter
in Norwalk, CT. This will continue to be a monthly activity our ladies look forward to with volunteers from the
Connecticut Area Order of Malta,
and we are grateful to them for this ongoing opportunity to give back.

2018 marks our 20th anniversary, so to celebrate this special occasion we will be honoring our 5 founders:
Christopher Bell, Hope Carter, Father Gerald Devore, Michael O'Rourke, and Reverend Monsignor William Scheyd.
The theme for this year's gala is "A Mother's Love", which is what Good Counsel Malta House is all about. Please join us for a wonderful evening
celebrating the mothers in your life, while supporting ours: the more than 300 (and counting!) women who have called 5 Prowitt Street "home" since we opened our doors in 1998.
|
|
We are also looking for donations for our live and silent auction, so please consider supporting us in this way as well.
|
|
We hope to see you soon!
From all of us at Good Counsel Malta House, we thank you for supporting our mothers and babies!
