Message from our Principal

The end of the 1 st semester has come to a close. This is a time to stop and reflect on what we have achieved so far this school year.  I am proud of the efforts of every staff member, student, parent and community stakeholder .  We have a lot to be thankful for here at Harding Middle School. It truly takes a village to get the most out of our youth.  They are our future! They are worth every minute of it! I thank you for these efforts. T he end of a semester also marks a time for new beginnings, new goals and the will to find the desire to achieve more.   We recently covered this topic in our Overcoming Obstacles class at Harding.  I ask that you do the same at home.  Help these youngsters acknowledge all the positives they have accomplished, but most importantly set new adventures to conquer.  I am looking forwarding to finishing the second semester strong.   Never hesitate to call if you ever need support or have any questions.

Sincerely,
Principal Bryan Mills

Pick up and Drop off

Please continue to be patient and use caution when transporting your child on school grounds to and from school. As you can see, the Calvin Jones Construction Project has begun and as a result Calvin Jones Road has been reduced to one way.
In the AM, we want to use the entire front sidewalk to drop off students.   By pulling all the way up to the stop sign or until the traffic stops will help reduce the congestion on Sunset Blvd. Please have your child or children ready to step out and get onto the sidewalk. If extensive time is needed for unloading please pull into a parking spot to accomplish this. Your understanding with this is much appreciated.
In the PM, we hope everyone understands that 725 students are exiting the building in a matter of 10-12 minutes. Busses will pull out at 2:39pm and walkers / pick-ups will be released at 2:40. At this time our emphasis will be on the safety of students.   We will attempt to get as many students up the crosswalk as we can before allowing cars to leave. Please allow the multiple staff members crossing students and directing traffic to lead the dismissal. Parking along the front sidewalk is prohibited in the PM because it blocks our view of students crossing the road to find their rides. It helps considerably if you park your car into a spot if they are available during dismissal.
Thank you for everything you do to keep our kids safe.

Important Reminders:

TARDIES : You will never be successful in school if you are not present at all times. Attendance is crucial to academic and personal/social success. Being on time is a very important character trait that should be developed during this time in your student's life. The "tardy bell" rings at 7:55am EVERY DAY! Now that the cafe is fully functioning, we will be starting to implement lunch detentions as outlined in the student handbook. After six tardies, your student will have to serve a lunch detention for each subsequent tardy. PLEASE get your kids to school on time each day!
