FEBRUARY 2018 E-NEWSLETTER
A Message From Our President

I can't believe it's already February! January was such a fun month - thank you to everyone who came out to support us at the Kendra Gives Back Party, and to everyone who joined us for Sensory Friendly Family Skate, which was such a great time!

If you are already thinking about summer like I am, be sure to save the date for Camp I CAN registration, which begins on Monday, March 19th. This popular program fills up quickly, so I recommend you register as early as possible! We will also be celebrating Autism Awareness Night with the San Diego Gulls on Friday, March 30th, so come join us as we cheer for our home town team!

Be sure and mark your calendars for all of our April events! We are looking forward to our Spring  Family Camp Weekend at beautiful Camp Marston in mountains of Julian, on the weekend of April 13th-15th. You will also want to save the date for our biggest fundraiser of the year, Splash for Cash, which will be held on Sunday, April 29th. You won't want to miss this event, our biggest pool party of the year! Swim if you like or just enjoy breakfast and lunch prepared by our favorite San Diego firefighters, a fabulous silent auction, and several exciting special guests!

Thanks so much,
Amy  Munera

The topic this month is: The Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT).

As a group, children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have a higher rate of psychiatric disorders than that of the general population. Research suggests that autism shares a genetic basis with several major psychiatric disorders. These include attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. There are times when behavioral health and mental health issues become critical. This month's meeting will discuss the PERT program in San Diego.
